Have Confidence in Our April Catchups

We know you are full of mistrust and paranoia. Is that news from your favorite video game developer real, or just an elaborate prank? Is the new movie or anime trailer going to be the next horse girl; or just fade away into obscurity, a one-shot gag? Do not be concerned. At J-Novel Club, members can expect nothing but honest and earnest facts. Look no further than the Hit By a Truck series.
Now, let's look back on some anime that have just ended. Rentt is still an undead monster, but he's evolved into something more human-like. He has revealed his tragic past and why he wants to become a Mythril-class adventurer. Lorraine decides to join him on his quest. How far can they go, and what challenges will they face along the way? Find out more now in the The Unwanted Undead Adventurer manga!
In My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me!, Yogiri and Tomochika faced some tough... err, mildly inconvenient...? battles in their journey to find a way back to Earth. With new traveling companions at their side and dead enemies in their wake, the pair are off to find more Philosopher's Stones. Will they be able to make it back home? Members can read the entire series this month.
Finally, a more lighthearted entry. When the powerful demon lord Anima is summoned to another world, he expects to bring forth death and destruction. But in a strange twist, his summoner is the poor manager of an orphanage, Luina. He finds himself strangely attracted to her, and decides to use his immense strength to protect her. So now it's time to answer the age-old question: Why Shouldn’t a Detestable Demon Lord Fall in Love?!

Why Shouldn't a Detestable Demon Lord Fall in Love? is a fun romcom. It's four volumes give it enough room to shine, but not stagnate. It's also complete, to my knowledge, so you don't have to wait for an ending either.
-
Instant death cheat is greatly recommended, great humor and two lovable main characters.
Unwanted undead is nice, but be aware that there are long internal monologues that can be annoying to read.
I haven't read the third series, with only four volumes I might be able to fit it into my schedule for this month, I'll try at least the first volume to see if it suits my tastes. -

Agreed and recommended. It might help to know that the amount of drama decreases with each volume as it shifts more to slice of life. You might want to keep a lemon handy in case the sweetness starts to overwhelm your senses.

I checked out the first volume when they were first released by J-Novel, but they locked them as soon as they dropped past the first part. So I'm looking forward to reading this.
I've been hoping for the Instant Death Light Novels on catch-up since I started watching the Anime. I bought the first several volumes, but wouldn't be able to get all of them quickly. So they're going to be read ASAP.

I've had Why Shouldn't a Detestable Demon Lord Fall in Love?! bookmarked on my computer for quite a while and now my wait has paid off. It's available to read this month.
I already have all of Instant Death on my Kindle so there's no need for me to re-read as yet since I just did a re-read when I picked up the final volume.
I bounced off hard from the Unwanted Undead novels. The monologuing was not to my taste. I'm not sure if the manga will be different but I'm not really fond of dungeon diving stories as I find that boring.
-
@saidahgilbert the manga for Undead Adventurer cuts down monologuing a lot.
I also bounced off the LN but have found the manga to be quite enjoyable
-
@Lily-Garden the anime is pretty good too -- it includes just enough of the inner monologue to keep the flavor without slowing progress to a crawl. It's one of the rare anime that I might recommend over the LN.
-
@HarmlessDave Yeah the anime was a great adaptation.

I'm glad I finished Instant Death Ability. The end was hilarious. "Thank You, now get out."
I've been wanting to read Why Shouldn't a Detestable Demon Lord Fall in Love since J-Novel got the series, but it really degraded in quality after the first two books. It just gets so boring. I slogged through volume 3, but gave up in volume 4...

So it was not just me who felt this way. I'd also had it bookmarked to read for quite a while. I only read the first two volumes on catch up before I stopped, though. I just couldn't stand how the author wrote their lovey-dovey scenes. I found that a shame, though. It was only four volumes so normally I would push through but the month ended before I came back to read the rest...
-
@saidahgilbert - it was a big shift from a mix of adventure and family time to 100% family time, and I agree the author didn't pull it off. I don't regret reading volumes 3-4 but I understand skipping them for being too much sugar without any spice.
