      Best:

For me the best place to read is at my eldest sister’s house, she has this one chair that is comfortable (without being so comfortable it puts me to sleep) has perfect lighting (I get no shadows on my books so I have great view of the pages) and it’s in a room no one really stays in so if I go over her house to read there is no excess noise in the room.

Only down side is the amount of time I have to actually go there, plus it would be rude to go there and only read I have to spend time with my brother-in-law and my nephews.

      Worst:

Almost literally everywhere else. All of the chairs in my house are either too soft and put me to sleep or are in places where the lighting in the room leaves many shadows on the page regardless of how much I move chairs around or if I try to lay down on a sofa or bed I have issues with lighting and with coziness.

I’ve tried going to th library to read but it was actually too noisy, 1 of the reasons I prefer digital to physical books cause lighting is never an issue making it much easier to read in places.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

Best is outside, by myself, especially on vacation. I'd love to have a really secluded spot so I could read out loud / have the book read aloud by a Text To Speech Program and not care about bothering anyone. Either way, if there's not much noise besides some wind and bird calls, it's easier to get into the book even just reading it silently.

Worst is inside my home. I can't zone out at all, especially when multiple TVs are on. The noise factor being bothersome for my thought process is why I think I gravitated towards reading aloud; just drown out the noise with my own noise. =[

Does anyone find listening to music helpful while you read? Or do you find that distracting?

Best is my room at home, with closed doors (everyone around knows that whenever my door's closed I'm not available for anyone, not anyone AT ALL).

Worst is on any public space of any kind.

            Best:
The only place I feel the best when I read is when I'm on my bed. I just like laying on it while having a good read.

            Worst:
I just don't read outside. I just can't read anywhere else because when I just try, I end up just putting the book back down or only get through one paragraph (^ _ ^;)>

Best is lying in bed personally. This is only for when I'm reading on my tablet though. Physical books, I have to be sitting in a chair in a lights on room. (I typically just have a single lamp on compared to turning on my room lights.)

Worst is outside when I'm on my tablet cause I don't like having to turn my screen's brightness up and even then, it could be annoying to read with a glare. I'm alright outside with physical books though.

The best and worst place to read for me is in my bed. Its awesome since I can focus on reading and it can put me to sleep. Its the worst because if the book gets really good I'm awake til I finish it.

What's the latest you've read until? I've read visual novels I was almost finished with until the wee hours before (like 4:30-5:00 to finish 999). xC

I've had to work on an hour and a half once but I usually try to stop when I only get 3 hours.

Lol I can only read while lying down in bed. I can’t read anywhere else. Sometimes I’ll try to read using my pc but I just can’t do it. So the best place is lying down on my bed using my iPad.

I can almost read anywhere , that's why I prefer digital books over physical, it prevents all the hassle of carrying and bookmarking by storing in my smartphone.
But the place I am most comfortable reading would be on my own bed with doors closed and hoping no one would bother me.
Unfortunately someone from my family will bother me in someway and then I rudely respond to them . I wish I had a soundproof room where I could lock my doors so no one would bother me.

Not sarcastically: At policy meetings at work in the very comfortable conference chairs, while I'm tuning out someone droning on uselessly on things that will not have any significance (work in the US Civil Service as a fairly senior mandarin). I love digital books, because I can read while ostensibly paying attention, and whenever someone calls me on my reading, I can argue that I am reading matters related to the assigned briefs. Even better when the person is Plum Book appointed, because I only have to listen for a couple of years until they inevitably get sacked or resign due to a new Administration.

Even better now that Congress is going to be giving us another vacation. Just told my staff that the agency has one day's worth of budget left, so pack it in. I am looking forward to having some quality time reading at home sans care.

I actually like reading on the train in the morning on my way to work - unless it is very crowded. I don't get tempted to read "just one more page" there - not getting of the right station means trouble. ;-)

I have a lot of places I like to read. If I can find a book nook of some sort that would be my favorite spot. The worst place to read is anywhere there is distractions, mostly conversations going on around me. For example if I have the TV on I start listening to that and have a hard time reading.

Best place in my living room, on my Big Screen TV, it gives a whole new meaning to the words large print. LOL

also on my phone / computer at my local coffee shop is a nice spot too.

Wost place, on my phone in the Car that is kind of a pain or during lunch hour at worker since a Co worker likes to be a jerk and turn the radio on when I go on lunch break, its funny how he only has it on when i am at lunch and reading but doesn't even have it on the rest of the day.

Anywhere quiet and preferably dark is good, conversely loud and bright is bad. (that goes for me in general actually, not just when I'm reading)
