Website Mistake: Two series have the same author but different names
-
These two series have the same author but for some reason the names are different:

https://j-novel.club/series/management-of-a-novice-alchemist
They're both Mizuho Itsuki (in western name order) but land mines has the names reversed. Even the cover artwork is wrong.

@mlindner yes, this has been pointed out before, apparently it is deliberate for contractual reasons.

Hello,
You are correct that the authors are the same. Unfortunatley this is intended. We are legally required to credit the author based on our agreement with the publisher.
So the cover artwork is not wrong. It is correct based on our obligations.
Thank you

Interesting, is there any way that the search queries could line up then so that a search for one finds both when searching by author?

Right now, no.
I am not in development but this has been talked about and we are aware of this issue. This author is not the only one that has a name presented in a different way on our site.

@Rahul-Balaggan I can think of two off the top of my head. The authors of Are You OK With a Slightly Older Girlfriend \ You Like Me Not My Daughter and How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord \ Altina the Sword Princess. My brain is also teasing me that the author of Bluesteel Blasphemer also had another title that JNC translated. (Spaces added to avoid formatting issues.)
I do think that having the search engine check both English and Japanese name order is a good idea, although the implementation might be tricky.

@Paul-Nebeling The new backend deals with this smartly by having "people" a first-class database class with theoretically many different name variations in all languages. When we fully switch over to that we can handle that, but also situations like staff changing their names, etc.
