Ascendance of a bookworm is over.

@Mabbinitials you might be waiting a while. So far JNC has only done one of soft/hard cover for their books. I don't think any of them have both.
-
It was very fun read, but this was honestly a good stopping point. If we get a sequel, it feels it should be set 30+ years from current events so that the character roster can 'reset'.
-
@Anssi nah, Ferdinand may have ensured that she knows everything she needs to know and proved it, but she still needs to finish school. Also, she now has the best magical spellbook ever made, and all the political power in the world with less than half the obligations that should come with it. She is going to be an absolute menace and there is nothing Ferdinand can do to stop her.
Beyond that, there are still so many side stories that need to be told.
-
@harkmagic She still need to finish completing her book, since it have missing parts... I would like to know more about it... There is a lot of lose ends. I need more books!
-
@Cansian yeah, but she hasn't done it yet because transferring that knowledge is basically the same as a noble bedroom activity. Its funny when she doesn't understand what she is doing the Ferdinand. I'm not so sure that it is fitting with the tone and target audience to tell the story of that happening to Myne from her perspective.
I also don't expect her completing the book to really change anything. She'll be happy to have it completed, but the content of what she reads is rarely important. Its what she is willing to do to get a book that makes up the story, not the book itself.
I expect going forward the story will focus on Alexandrian politics, relations with neighboring duchies, her social reforms, negotiating book deals with other duchies, and maybe some unhinged Ferdinand mad science.

Nah, just needs a change of protagonist.
-
@pcj Like, say... Hannelore? :smirk:

Indeed, she would do nicely.

I truely can't wait for what comes next. I haven't had enough yet. What an enchanting story.
Real talk though, Ferdinand needs some therapy or something, hopefully having a connection with Myne's family will even him out.

Why didn't anyone warn us that this was the last book in the series?
Like many of you, I thought we would get a glimpse of Bookworm City. The Subway or Train Station. The takeout Pizza restaurants, the movie theaters, the schools and collages. The iron chef competition. The high beast airport for commoners. It's gone and I don't know what Monday's mean anymore.... -

The iron chef competition. The high beast airport for commoners. It's gone and I don't know what Monday's mean anymore....We very likely will get all of that. Kazuki-sensei did say in the Afterword that there were quite a few short stories related to volume 12 that didn't fit and will be included in Short Story Collection 3. We'll just have to wait for SSC3 to come out.

Ah Monday, time to read... oh.
Oh no. -
Time to read it all over again!
-
@GeorgeMTO I just can't have a soft cover book. Not when it's a story I love. All my favorite books are hard cover.
-
@Mabbinitials well you're going to have to order them in Japanese then. It is highly unlikely we will ever get an English hardcover.

Buy digital.
Buy archival paper and archival toner/ink.
Buy bookbinding supplies.
Practice making blank books until obtaining sufficient skill.
Print yer book and hand bind it.For the best experience, a printer that would print duplex 17x11, using proper software, would allow folded signatures so the pages can be properly sewn together.
I've toyed with this idea from time to time myself.
One might consider outsourceing the printing, but then you have the problem of involving outside firms in a project of questionable legality,
Which is why one does the best one can with the equipment one can afford. -
Any indication of when we are likely to get Short Story Collection 2 (published in Japan in March 2022)?
I know we will have a long wait for Short Story Collection 3 but hopefully the second installment isn't too far off.
