[PLEASE READ] - Issues after extended Maintenance
-
Hello,
None of my reading progress pre-maintenance has come back yet. I use the android app on my phone and tablet. I've logged out and back in, as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the app. It sounds like many people got their progress back by now. Is this just a matter of continuing to be patient? -
Hello,
yes we are still actively working on getting all of the reading progress back. This will be days of work.
We are starting with the latest data working backwards.

Hi - just want to make sure I understand going forward as I am someone who has never used the app… So, from now on, only reading progress will be tracked in the app? Correct?
I frequently read from my laptop (in a browser) as I only have a small screen on my older phone (even with tiny font still have to change pages about 3-4x/minute), so I will need to adjust and keep track in other ways…

Yay! I finished reading the new Frontier Lord chapter, and it’s been shown as “read” in the app! Another thing appears to have been checked off the to-do list. :)
Edit: Spoke too soon. The Rebuild World chapter is still shown as unread… :( Well, it’s some signs of progress, at least.

@Rahul-Balaggan thanks for the update on this! Will wait patiently for my reading status to recover :)

A number of titles still have messed up titles for the Parts. Some of them have been fixed, but here are a few random ones that haven't;
Grimgar Volume 18; all the part titles are "grimgar"
Chivalry of a Failed Knight Volume 3; "Default Title(Short)"
The Coppersmith's Bride Volume 3 (not sure if this change is intentional) ; "Coppersmith Ch 15" and then each part is the chapter number.
Duchess in the Attic Volume 1; "Duchess in the Attic" (no part number)

Not sure if this a site issue or a policy change, but: I live in Japan, and the site used to block me from reading Housekeeping Mage unless I used a VPN to access it from a US-based IP. Since the maintenance, the region blocking is gone and I can read the new Housekeeping Mage parts with no VPN.
I... don't know why I'm reporting this, as it's been a positive change for my experience on the site.

So I have noticed that it seems I no longer have the option to use Google Pay to buy coins on the Website. When I try to buy coins it takes me to the new payment page where there only is the option to pay with card.
If I go to the new billing page and try to add a new payment method there however, I do have the option to use Google Pay (though I haven't actually added a new payment method since the update as I already have one attached from before. I don't know if I need to re-add it there or something for it to become available to buy coins with? Seems a bit odd that this new billing page is separate to the one for coins but I don't know if they are meant to be linked or not.).
I am using Chrome with AdBlock disabled on the site so I believe I should be able to use Google Pay. I could before the extended maintenance anyway.
Thanks

Two major issues:
- App is broken. No title will load, displaying „oops, a bug has occurred“, both on iOS and iPadOS. And yes, I forcibly killed the app, even reinstalled.
- using both Safari or Brave, the Manga reader mostly does not load the pages, sometimes the page will finally display after several reloads, but mostly not. This has been the case since long and was the reason I switched the now defunct app.
Minor issue:
- seems the progress bars are lost after a while. Also, it should switch to 100% when reaching the „next“ dialogue, but there is always this empty page afterwards that spoils it.

This is extremely strange. Is this brand new, as in today?
When others have had this issue all they did was go to the 3rd tab in the app, "Account", and in the top right corner hit the sign out button. Then sign back in.
So far that has worked 100% of the time. But you uninstalled the app and reinstalled it.

I noticed that that new manga I read are actually properly getting marked as read in the Android app. Manga I read yesterday is not getting marked as read even if I go back and read it again to try to mark it. Must be something in the individual entries that broke it before and that still has to be corrected in the older stuff?
-
These might be related to this, or they might just be a coincidence of bad data data entry, so while I've already posted them in their respective corrections threads I'll post them here too:
Bookworm SS2 is still not on the calendar.A Wild Last Boss manga v4c1 is giving me an Error 9500 (Edit: This looks like some sort of CORS issue, still trying to diagnose it)(Some weird issue specific to me)- Chillin in Another World v16p7 is simply 404, and on its series page hovering over the Part 7 button shows Part 8 will be releasing on 2024-10-30, and similar for Part 8 and Part 9 (with no Part 10 (except in the tooltip for Part 9) for this typically evenly parted series)

@Rahul-Balaggan
I did as you suggested with the reinstalled app and it actually worked! Thank you!
However, even the account page shows the 404-girl. Still. I could log out via that door symbol on top of the screen. -

I see the pre-pubs on Mondays@14:00 on the JNC release calendar page, and the ebook publishing of the book out in late-January. The first pre-pub was listed before it came out, as that was how I saw the parts-count that I added to my pre-pub reading/tracking text file. Is there another calendar that I’m missing?
-
Looks like all the reading history has now been ported, including the manga. All my reading progress back to when Jnovel opened is now visible.
-
@Ingraman ....Why yes, yes there is, the one I wrote for myself using https://api.j-novel.club/api/events. I bet that backend isn't being updated anymore. N/m (Edit: and hasn't been for weeks at least, oops)
-
@Gamen yeah, the downtime was killing off the old api. It doesn't look like chocolatkey has done the api v2 update they said they would yet (presumably because of lingering issues taking priority) https://forums.j-novel.club/post/374895
-
@GeorgeMTO Ahh, thank you for pointing me to that. Still, might not bother fixing my own calendar. I don't even remember what the me of 3 years ago had against the real one, so I'll probably use it for a while at least.

Only things that I read in the last week or two are missing the %read status, which I could easily page through to mark them again. Thanks to everyone who has been working through these maintenance issues!

Currently all the latest volumes of manga in pre-pubs list their expiration date as the date of publication instead of the 15th (or 14th that some manga had). Is this an issue or a change in the policy of when manga expire? Thanks!
