          @paul-nebeling actually I get those illustrations were in another forum and that was 2 days ago. Normally the illustrations are leak before the release.

                          Kaede was already destined to be sad. Remember the jump forward in the forest arc when we're told an elven girl is gonna go find him and marry him, having fallen in love with him for his acts in saving the village. :)

                                Pretty sure Kaede will get the guy. Remember, in this setting polyandry and polygamy are acceptable.

                                He will likely end up with Kaede, the elf, and the dragon. :)
