Do prepubs generally expire immediately after the ebook is published?
Or is there a bit of a grace period? Is it more obvious when stuff will expire if I have an active subscription? (Having a hard time finding that info without one.)
Here's the rule of thumb.
It depends on what part of the month the ebook is published. If it comes out anywhere before the 15th of a month, all prepubs will expire the NEXT month on the 15th.
If the ebook comes out after the 15th day of the month, the prepubs will expire on the 15th the month FOLLOWING the next.
For example, let's say an ebook comes out March 10. Since it is before the 15th, the prepubs for that volume will expire on April 15th.
Let's say another ebook comes out on March 20. Since it is after the 15th, the prepubs will expire May 15th.
TLDR: When in doubt, look at this thread:

There used to be a grace period, but now that we have the dates in that expiring thread, it's been a lot more on the dot, which is fair.
The catch-up months have made it easier for me to say "I'll let this one go" if I don't make it through before the expiration. Of course, don't bank on those as it could be months / years before your series rolls around to there again.
@legitpancake Thanks that's informative. Guess I need to be subscribed to see that thread but I'll check it after I do
