      Hi there,

I‘m new here and wanted to ask if you guys have any recommendations for me. I've heard so much about J-Novel Club and would like to start reading their light novels now. So my question is, do you have any J-Novel Club novels for me that are absolute must-reads? I'm a big fan of romantasy, but I also like fantasy in general and don't mind a bit of isekai now and then. Thanks in advance!

          @BookishMaddie
          Welcome!
Glad to see you here and happy to provide some recommendations

I second Cosmic’s recommendation of Bookworm & Min-Max, two of the best written series on JNC, both fantasy

          As for other “must-reads”
Definitely check out Tearmoon Empire, which probably the best written title in terms of sentence crafting and the best comedic story

Apothecary Diaries is another must, has a incredible anime adaptation and the light novel is just as good; mystery/intrigue in a imperial China type setting

Altina the Sword Princess is best tactics/battles story with really fun characters

The Combat Baker & Automaton Waitress, steampunk-ish set in aftermath of a World War, solid characters, a touch of romance, and it’s a completed series

The Faraway Paladin is the best high fantasy series here

Tales of Marielle Clarac has a good dollop of romance to go with the central intrigue of each volume

Der Werewolf is another great fantasy series, that is completed

As for isekai I recommend Zero Believers & Lazy Dungeon Master

Finally if you don’t mind the fact that it was tragically cancelled after the 2nd volume, one of my favorite books here is Deathbound Duke’s Daughter

“There’s always a story. It’s all stories, really. The sun coming up every day is a story. Everything’s got a story in it. Change the story, change the world.” ― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

Dahlia in Bloom is a good choice for romantasy, although it is fairly slow paced. Lucia and the Loom is a spinoff of that you might also be interested in, but I wouldn't read it without reading the first few volumes of Dahlia up until she starts doing buisness with the tailor's guild, it will add some helpful context.

Hi there, I'm also new here, I came over from J-Novel Club Nina. I love, and I mean really LOVE romantasy novels, but I also really enjoy reading the occasional isekai and transported into a game world novel. And I think JNC's novels are especially good in terms of quality and translation. They are also published regularly, so you don't have to wait endlessly for the next volume, which can be quite annoying.
              Anyway, I could recommend you:

-Ascendance of a Bookworm (literally one of the best light novels I‘ve ever read)
              -Bibliophile Princess
-Dahlia in Bloom: Crafting a Fresh Start with Magical Tools
-Deathbound Duke‘s Daughter (though it got unfortunately axed after the second volume)
-Earl and Fairy (a bit old-fashioned, but otherwise quite good if you like fairies)
-Goodbye, Overtime! This Reincarnated Villainess Is Living for Her New Big Brother (more about familial love than a real romance, but it‘s a really cozy read)
-Tearmoon Empire (it‘s a really funny and well written story)
-The Apothecary Diaries (not really a romance novel, but with a very interesting main character and a very well written (mystery) story
              -The Tales of Marielle Clarac

I hope this helps. There are many wonderful novels from J-Novel Club.
