Sol Press Discussion Thread

@tusf No I agree that neither title were exactly going to have a large number of rabid fans hungry for the next volume. Neither, however nor were most the launch titles for JNC. I think launch titles should be designed as much to build trust for future customers as they should be to be instant sellers. Still, they must have done something right as it did seem to lead them getting better titles licensed.

Ah, I thought they both only had 2 volumes. I still think the "no rush" mentality is part of why it took so long, but yes, the massive delay has certainly hurt any kind of trust in Sol's punctuality. I can only guess that they made some scheduling mistake, given how backed up parts of the American book publishing industry appear to be (from my outsider perspective).

The video views took a massive hit. I'd say you could attribute that to some lost mindshare in the LN space (their VN video has 700+ views; most of their other VN videos are between 1-2K after months, so they're still about reaching their average).
Maybe a press outlet like ANN will repost the trailers though and give them a boost, idk.
Their first two trailers for their LN had 51K and 58K respectively. Pretty crazy. Saving 80K coins had 14K views.

We do know a translator left, so there's that too (was it just Demon Lord Orphanage LN and Harem Royale manga one that got affected?). We don't know any other behind the scenes either. Obviously they're looking for typesetters too, so that's a position that either had turnover or was never really filled.
If Hyourin actually happened, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were hoping to launch with a bunch of content there too, so holding stuff back.

I don't know if this is new, but I just saw 80k Gold back on Amazon for the 26th of this month, next Friday.
This might even actually come out this time, people.

I did pick up Strongest Gamer 2. The first volume was decent and it’ll be finished in just two volumes. I also want to support them and hope they do get it turned around as more quality publishers is always a good thing (said all the while praying under my breath that they don’t fuck up 80k, the one I really care about).
-
@nosgoroth Yeah, what the heck Sol? At least give people a reasonable heads-up before a release instead of suddenly going "Hey, this volume comes out in a week."
-
Meanwhile they're also teasing some news for tomorrow:

The V1 physicals they put out we’re nothing short of atrocious, I contacted them on twitter and sent them a very long list of issues, and I seriously hope they address some of them with future volumes.
There Volume 1 physicals were on par with Tokyopop, in this day and age that does not cut it, I would buy the digital but in my opinion their digital volumes are far too overpriced, I mean I got both volume 1s for about $11 each and the digital editions are $10 each.

They need to provide advance copies to @Terabyte , problem solved ;-)
(To explain the joke and ruin it, @Terabyte reads almost every prepub here and provides more [very helpful] proofreading feedback than the rest of us combined :) )

I'm already kind of iffy about their 80k manga release. I'm not holding out much hope for their LN release.
Yeah, Terabyte works fast enough (since I hate reading part by part anyways) that there really isn't any point of me saying anything since Terabyte will have already reported most of what I have to say and others will generally fill in any gaps there.
I think I only bothered once since I realized this when an issue annoyed me enough to bother mentioning.

They’ve announced Battle Divas 3 will release in May, so it looks like they are getting better at assembly lining out releases which is a good sign!
-
@the-green-death Considering last time they announced a delay was like the day of a supposed release, I have zero faith in their website's release dates.
-
Isn't it already listed on Amazon? They won't be able to do any more pre-orders on Amazon for a time if they delay it.
-
@terrence that is only if they are using KDP, and since they already delayed a book and are still able to do pre-orders I assume they are not using KDP.
That being said I also have 0 faith in them

80k Gold is actually out. I've downloaded the sample and I'm reading it. It seems to read well for now.
EDIT: Okay, I'm going in.
-
Not on Google Books yet. =[
-
@nosgoroth Let us know how it goes 😜
-
@Terabyte I hope you weren’t holding your breathe
