Sol Press Discussion Thread

@rahul-balaggan ......
Error with Amazon my ass, I can’t think of how Amazon could have ever had pre-release scripts.
That said, though, for now I've only noticed a typo (a missing word), it's been otherwise fine. For now.
-
@nosgoroth I mean, JNC has had releases that weren't even the full book (just the preview part), so i can believe it's an issue related to Amazon.
That doesn't mean it's not someone's at Sol fault that they used Amazon wrong or didn't upload the final draft with enough time before the release date.
-
@rahul-balaggan 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Oh well, at least that tweet reminded me that VRMMO Academy is coming out today, too. Either way I planned on waiting a few days before making a purchase. Let's hope it doesn't take another month to fix the problem.
-
@terabyte I am sure it will be fixed by next week, that being said I won’t be buying them till they go down to at least $8, and if they never do then I won’t ever be reading them...
-
If an error like this happens after you buy a book, does your download get fixed once the problem is solved?
-
@artistofmanga yes, I have found that the majority of the time I have to manually update the copy on amazon’s website.
You can do that by going into your account and going into the content and devices section.
Or you can contact via chat function and they can manually update it for you.
-
On the bright side, 80K hasn't suddenly been delayed by 9 months because reasons, so I'll actually get to read it soon instead of next year.
-
This is the same problem they had with Strongest Gamer v1, apparently accidentally published a pre-release test copy. It took them nearly a month to fix it that time, IIRC.
If I'm remembering right, they've now published 6 light novel volumes, and have had this same problem with 3 of them.
-
I know people don't have much faith in Sol press right now, but I still want to support them since I've enjoyed the books they have put out so far.
-
So. I finished the book, and as far as I could tell there was nothing outrageous, just the very occasional extraneous word or missing word. Sometimes I read through text too fast and I don't even notice mistakes, though, so ymmv.
I'm usually more concerned with writing style and flow anyway, and it was good on that aspect.
-
@artistofmanga true and it's never a good thing for the marquet to have publisher fail, but they're really making it hard to trust them right now. Let hope it's just some lasting effect of the problems they had and apparently resolve.
-
@artistofmanga said in New Challenger Approaches! Sol Press Shines Down with Two LN Licenses:
I know people don't have much faith in Sol press right now, but I still want to support them since I've enjoyed the books they have put out so far.
I want them to succeed too, especially since I don't want the 80K license to end up in limbo.
I'll be buying 80K as soon as they fix it, and probably Strongest Gamer 1 since it looks interesting.
-
@artistofmanga trust is something that they havent really earned given the arguably massive errors that have happened.
That said i do hope they actually fix these “issues” cause i really wanna read 80k and “Detestible Demon Lord” primarily and dont wanna have these series in limbo -
I just purchased my copy(accidentally purchased vol.1 of manga too, but whatever...). About the discussion in this thread, was the copy I got the pre-release version or the fixed one? They said it'd be fixed in a day and it's roughly that now so?...
-
@korppi They said they would let people know once it was fixed. Did they tweet any update?
-
@terabyte They haven't tweeted anything since, and I have no update available in my Content and Devices page on Amazon, so I suppose it's still the pre-release version.
-
@Terabyte Nothing yet...
-
They're fixed...probably?

"Hope that you guys can find it in your hearts to forgive us, but our two newest releases should be mostly up and running now!"
That's not entirely reassuring but I don't have a twitter account so I can't ask them to explain what "mostly" means in this case. Some stores but not others? 60% of the time you get the right version every time?
-
@harmlessdave Given their links it looks like the ebooks are available only on Amazon and Google so far. No Kobo, iBooks, etc. I think the "mostly" was referring to that(?).
-
I just read the Amazon sample of Redefining the META and liked it way more than expected. Good breezy fluffy fun. I wasn’t planning on getting this but pretty sure I’ll get it once I get through a few more of my LN backlog (I currently have 94 that I’ve bought but haven’t read, told myself no more until I get to 89 - I may have a problem).
