@the-green-death said in New Challenger Approaches! Sol Press Shines Down with Two LN Licenses:
I just read the Amazon sample of Redefining the META and liked it way more than expected. Good breezy fluffy fun. I wasn’t planning on getting this but pretty sure I’ll get it once I get through a few more of my LN backlog (I currently have 94 that I’ve bought but haven’t read, told myself no more until I get to 89 - I may have a problem).
That's a nice problem to have :)
I'm caught up with all of the LNs that I follow, though JNC and Yen will be giving me 4+ new volumes in May.
There are a few volume 1's in my shopping cart at Amazon, but with the volume 2's not due until June or July I'm putting off buying them. That way if there are cliffhangers the wait won't be so long.

@the-green-death Nah, you're fine.
I'm at 123.
-
@nosgoroth Haha, we can form a support group!
-
Just FYI, all Sol Press first volumes are on sale in BookWalker right now. 80k is pretty fantastic, I’m about halfway through. Battle Divas however is dire so I’d avoid that one.
-
They have an AX panel. Hopefully we'll get some release dates for the continuation of some series (and our Demon Lord Orphanage series starts...).

I enjoyed 80K and both volumes of Strongest Gamer, which is a warmer, much less brutal and more slice-of-life series than Lazy Dungeon Master.
I enjoy LDM too but it's a series where I have to warn people about the more unpleasant moments. SG has none of those.

@harmlessdave Strongest Gamer was dropped(?) after 2 volumes though.

It comes to a good conclusion or pause point though. I'd enjoy reading more but I didn't feel like it left me hanging. Since it's slice-of-life there isn't some grand quest.
-
@terabyte it still says ongoing but it didn´t sell that well so you can consider it as dropped
-
Apparently the first volume was released in Japan on October 2015 and the second one on February 2016, over three years ago, so I'd suggest abandoning any hope.

Is this the update you are waiting for?
Pretty much. I wanted an update for Detestable Demon Lord (the orphanage one) and continuation for Harem Royale was important to know the status of too (Idr if those were confirmed fully translated before or not). I'd still like some dates. Maybe at AX.
Sounds like there's two 100% translated super secret projects too that will likely be at AX, whether they be LN or manga (I'd assume they'll have more licenses to announce there too that will take a bit longer?).

Sol has been weird with release dates. I think it was last month (or the month before?) where they suddenly put out the dates for three different volumes, just a few days to a week before the actual release.
If they continue this trend, then you'll learn about the date about as soon as you can order it.
-
I wish publishers gave at least a month notice because it's kind of hell to update the /r/LightNovels sidebar for new releases since I use a script get it all formatted right and compressed to fit the character limit. Cause if I have to update something for that very month, then it has to be updated in like 3 places. With a month in advance though, I'm pretty much guaranteed to catch it during the monthly updates at the beginning/end of each month.
I see the same issue with J-NC's Rokujouma and Bookwalker's series too. I only learn when they're out when I'm doing the update for the month after they've already been released.
-
Bumping this thread because "Why Shouldn't A Detestable Demon Lord Fall In Love?!" vol. 1 finally has a release date of Sept. 20th, and is available for pre-order in various places, including on Sol Press's website shop.
Seems like this is their first LN available digitally on their shop (the other LNs are only being sold as print on their shop for now).
-
So at this rate 80k Vol. 2 should be out in 2021
-
@the-green-death It'll soon be five months since the first one. It hasn't been that long, but just not knowing anything, particularly with their track record, is the worst.
-
@nosgoroth Totally fair, I just get frustrated with Sol’s lack of transparency and speed.
-
@the-green-death And just their total inability to inspire trust. They promise a blog post updating us weekly, then almost immediately the weekly blog post goes MIA, then when it resurfaces they joke about how they can't do things on time. Just, ew.

@stardf29 actually looking forward to that one, looks cute and funny
