Summer's here, which means it's time to go outside! While you're enjoying the weather, or after you've had your fill and need something to do indoors, we've got new catchups for members!

If you're going to be more active to take advantage of the season, what better contrast than to read about a Lazy Dungeon Master? Keima gets summoned to another world to manage a dungeon of monsters and repel adventurers, but all he wants to do is sleep! He'll have to sharpen his wits if he wants to stay alive, fend off female admirers, and still find time for some shuteye!

If you're keeping up with the Instant Death series, why not check out the author's previous work, My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World? I've heard there's even a crossover in Instant Death at some point... Yuichi suddenly starts seeing status tags describing the people around him, which would be fine if they weren't crazy fantasy races and stuff! However, his older sister Mutsuko is (somehow) already prepared for something like this!

Next, we've got a series with "yuri" in the title that isn't really about yuri, and another one without it that's definitely yuri. Both series are pretty much what they say on the tin, though; I Love Yuri and I Got Bodyswapped With a Fujoshi! is a bodyswap high school comedy manga, while Girls Kingdom is about... a kingdom of girls, metaphorically, in an all-girls academy!

Finally, we're sad that another volume hasn't come out yet, but check out
Gear Drive, an adventure story about a girl who can create gears! There's 30 volumes to read this month, one for each day, so time to read!

Whoever said nothing's impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

Ah, shame I couldn’t get through my full list last month, since nothing really speaks to me this month. At least I have time for my post-P3 Bookworm reread now ^^

I been waiting for My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World to be on catch-up. Back before I joined JNC I read the first couple volumes on Overdrive through my local library. I have always been meaning to finish the series but I never got around to it. Now, I will commit myself to reading the rest of the series

Also since @Quof is the Translator for Lazy Dungeon Master and will try to check that out too,

I have been interested in looking into that one for a while anyways

Gear Drive is good so far. The art reminds me of that anime with Senku in it, the stoneage science one.

New part drops, fangirling intensifies - Marielle probably

For anyone else looking at Lazy Dungeon Master, if you're on the fence or leaning no, quof, the translator, wrote a rather interesting blog piece about his experiences translating the series.

@myskaros thanks for sharing this. It's always interesting to read a translator's thoughts on a series they've worked on

LDM is one of my favorite JNC series and the quality has remained high over 14 volumes. The volume 14 afterword reveals that the publisher has given him 3 more volumes to wrap up loose ends.

Fair warning: volume 1 has some brutal parts with some very unpleasant bandits. Most of the later volumes are lighter than that aside from one later volume with a rotten summoned hero.

My Sister is a fun one with clever writing that builds up to an ending that some people disliked but I really enjoyed. If you like Instant Death Cheat this is the same author.

I really liked it but I am sad that it is only 1 volume.
And the MTL on the webnovel is really difficult compared to others so I feel really sad about it.

I actually bring up LDM pretty frequently if I find myself talking about LN as a good example of set-up and payoff, being an isekai, fan service, and how to do a harem well (shout out to Monster Tamer for that too). I'll also compare/contrast it very favorably to a series like Shield Hero in how it maintained its quality over time. I think it does what Shield Hero is going for far better.

Probably the only thing I would openly criticize it for is that it has a hard loli bend to it. I'm sure that would be off-putting to more than a few people who aren't expecting it.

Kind of, except Keima isn't actually a loli-chaser himself despite what everyone assumes. He's actually too lazy to be much of an anyone-chaser :)

@harmlessdave it's done for the reader's sake not keima's. Having lots of Loli fan service as a wink to the reader but saying the mc isn't into it is still Loli fan service

I've already read them all but am glad it is on catch-up so that others can discover it. Those who enjoy it should consider getting the premium epubs because they feature "Translator's Notes about all the references that Mutsuko makes to classic anime and manga".

                                Stay shiny, y'all.
