Old website and app have been retired as of March 14!

I liked the new button that opens only the reader in a new tab. Would be nice if there is a way to make it open like that by default. It could be in the settings or another button in the series page.
-
@jpwong that's being worked on
-
@bartzbb Not sure how feasible that would be since you'd need 2 links for each part as it's a completely different URL and not just some sort of setting.
-
@jpwong
Ahh... I didn't notice that the links were different. -

- A new button has been added to the top bar to open the reader frame in a new tab. This allows for easier browser access to a chapter's text for accessibility purposes.
Note for all non-native English speakers, this feature should facilitate auto-translation services...! @Evbe @atorbites

I don't think someone really thought it through when they did the newsletter announcing the end of old site by putting the image of the old site on a tombstone that happen to have a large image of Maomao from Apothecary Diaries right in the center of it...

What about a way to automatically go to the next chapter when you reach the end of a chapter? That still doesn't work. The old one offered an easy link to click to go to the next chapter.
Also holding down the arrow key should continue to scroll like it did in the old viewer, but it doesn't. It doesn't receive the signal from the browser that the right arrow key is held down.

When you show the interface bars (move to the top/bottom of the screen or click in the center), there's 'Prev' and 'Next' links at either end of the progress bar.

Those are hard to click as they're rather small and also require you to hover over the bottom and it often glitches out. It's not very good. The previous method where the last page was a link to the forums and a link to the next chapter was way better. (There's still no link to the forum discussion page.) Also if you have your bottom bar on mac or windows to pop up when you move your mouse to the bottom of the screen, that often pops up instead. It's just a bad UI design.

@mlindner Are you not seeing these buttons?

@myskaros Just going to point out that the page you're showing on the web reader only shows up if you're in 2 page layout mode, it doesn't appear in either of the single page modes. And even on the two page mode, it only appears if you pull up the nav slider and drag it to the end of the bar, if you're moving through the chapter by using arrow keys or by clicking on the right side of the page it won't appear and stops on the last page of the chapter instead.

If you're using the keyboard arrow keys to move through the chapter on the web reader it actually does advance to the next part (assuming there is one) if you press the right arrow when you're on the last page (at least in the single page modes, it doesn't seem to work in the two page layout, probably because of that last page myskaros shows)
-
@jpwong Ah, thank you for pointing that out.

I don't know about you but the Next Part Button appears for me normally.
I use arrow keys to read and on Single Page Mode.
Here is a Screenshot.

I see you're using the vertical scroll mode, and I can confirm it appears in that layout. It doesn't show up in the horizontal paged view on single page mode, but it will auto advance to the next chapter if you press the right arrow key on the last page which it won't do in two columned mode.

@chocolatkey That's great, one more question, do you think it would be possible to have the reader be able to keep different settings between novels and manga?
-
Hi, two questions about possible changes
- I don't frequent JNC blog or news,
but probably current Android app is not retired, right?
Google Play shows my installed JNC application as current version,
with last update 4 Dec 2021. There is no update to newer version.
Probably "old app" was another thing.- I use JNC application on my Android 10 phone,
and it stopped connecting 15 or 14 March,
The date can be coincidental, though?
Timeout for both the JNC application and JNC website+forums.
Rebooted, reloaded pages, checked antivirus - nope.However, with Wi-Fi they work ok again.
However 2, the same mobile operator and contract
but another phone (Android 11), JNC website is OK again.
(The app is not installed so could not check, but probably I can.)Some very nontrivial network situation?
the cookies or temp data stuck in cache for example? SIM card asking to be renewed?
Any ideas?Thanks in advance!
Sorry if the 2nd question does not belong here.Cheers!

@basuga You need to look out, there's 2 JNC apps on android. There's the old app now titled "J-Novel Club (old)" and the new one called "J-Novel Club (Beta)" on the app store. You need to install the new app (updated Dec 5) to get everything to work going forward now that the old app and site were discontinued last month on the 14th,

@jpwong
Thanks! Yes, my app is indeed new version, updated Dec 5.
