But better be brisk! 'Cuz chapters can circumvent customers' clutches come calendar closure!
Awesome alliteration aside, we've got some great series on catch up for members to read in August!
First, two tales of relationships - with one starting abruptly and the other ending abruptly. Zenjirou suddenly finds himself in another world, where the beautiful queen of a kingdom asks him to become her consort and sire her heir! In exchange, he'll be able to live a life of indolence and luxury, the Ideal Sponger Life. However, what about the modern comforts of Earth? And is this deal really everything that it seems? And in Dahlia in Bloom, Dahlia's fiancé breaks off their wedding the day before the ceremony! She throws herself into her magical toolmaking afterward and soon discovers that her skills, determination, and relationships are far stronger than she could have imagined.
Next, we have a couple of pure fantasy series to check out! In Mapping: The Trash-Tier Skill That Got Me Into a Top-Tier Party, the adventuring world runs on skills, and Note has got one of the most worthless of them all. But when a top-tier party finds a niche use for that skill, he'll have to put in the work to keep up with his amazing new comrades! Then, after the fall of civilization, humanity lives on by trading blood and lifespans. The relationship between Nagi and Saya, who are from complete opposites sides of society, threatens to upend the entire world of The Bloodline.
But don't worry, there's still isekai to read too! Asuta dives into his burning home to save a family heirloom only to find himself suddenly transported to another world. He's saved by a young woman, who lets him stay with her in her tribal settlement, but will he be able to adapt to his new life with only his skills as a cook? Find out in the manga adaptation of Cooking with Wild Game! And Kunugi Kou was the hero in another world, but now is just a regular high schooler again! All he wants now is to support his handsome best friend's romantic pursuits, but what will he do when that friend's sister seems to have a thing for him...? Because The Sidekick Never Gets the Girl, Let Alone the Protag’s Sister!
Members can check out these catchup series all month!

Dang, I was hoping for another day or two before this transitioned. I wasn't quite caught up with Tearmoon yet. Well, I'll just buy the last one, so not that big a deal I guess. Was still great to catchup.
As for this month... I've read all of them. I mean, there are great series like Sponger Life and Dahlia.
Also, I don't think I ever finished Mapping. I think I stopped with like 2 volumes to go so maybe I'll finish that off to see where that went.
-
Well, I suppose I can use this month to run an experiment to work out whether a long, long series of descriptions of fantasy pork dishes makes you hungrier when experienced in prose or manga form...

Ample Archaic Articles Are Available Again All August!
Someone had way too much fun with alliteration while writing that title.
-
Great timing, I've been thinking about rereading Dahlia.
EDIT: Need a way to reset the read status of books in the app.
-
Looking forward to finally reading Sponger Life since I never got around to reading it when it was first picked up.
-
Excited for Sponger and Dahlia and Bloodline, you guys got me hooked on Stepmoms Daughter is my Ex so I’ll be buying those volumes and give Protags Sister a try.
Sadly I just bought all of Mapping on Bookwalker but hey I hope folks enjoy it.
-
The Sidekick Never Gets the Girl is great, except it just ends mid-plot arc at 2 volumes after either the publisher axed it or the author did.
It really needed at least one more volume to reach a good pause point.
-
@Kurzaa I did that once just by going into each section, then leaving... it'll show them all at 0-5% or something. Kinda tedious, but works.
-
@Kilocron figured out while reading that it resets that part, so if I have to stop reading in the middle, it at least remembers where I stopped. So I just need to remember the part I have yet to start re-reading.
-
@Kurzaa well that's kinda what I mean. Just open up the future part, then back right out. Rise and repeat. Then it'll remember them all at 0%-ish.
-
@Kurzaa Unfortunately, for the only solution I have I'm not sure if it works in the app. However... on the website, if you hover over a part, it'll tell you how far into the part your bookmark is.
-
@Kurzaa To remember which was last part you read in the its simply as this:
Long press in the part, will open a menu, the select "open.book", and it will show you ALL THE PARTS in that book., so all you had have read on Green, the ones reading on Blue, and in white the ones UNREAD
... other option is to select "Series" on the button bar, go to the series you want to check, and keep opening every volumen, until u find which one was last you read.
Itoh: I don't think I'll try any series this month.
I'm already with Dalia up to date, and none.other had catch my eye ... -

Tried "Cooking with Wild Game!" and wow, it is such a striking example of making the other-world characters implausibly un-knowledgeable just to let the our-world character teach them things. Interesting to contrast with historical accounts of hunter-gatherers like http://nativeamericannetroots.net/diary/1377

@aZaphos while I definitely think they should've figured more out, it's worth pointing out that in lore, they've been doing that specific kind of hunting for about 3 generations. The world does know that knowledge, but this tribe of people didn't need to know it in their previous lifestyle (entirely different food sources there, hunting small prey rather than big boars).
The author has definitely constructed a story where the MC gets to be the saviour, but their lack of knowledge does get justified further down the line (of course at its current pacing the manga will take so many years to get there). -
@GeorgeMTO Ah interesting, thanks! Yeah 3 generations does still seem like enough time to have thought about a way to at least keep more of the meat when they're hunting that much though!
-
@aZaphos oh they know how to keep more of the meat, they simply choose not to.
-
@GeorgeMTO Yup. They can't hunt less without causing issues with the people outside the forest, and they can't sell the meat (until Asuta comes up with a way to make it palatable to other people). So before the story starts, there was no real reason to use more of each giba.
-
Is Bloodline completed at two volumes or was axed?
-
@Lex
It's complete.
