For those who are reading Ascendance of a Bookworm and up to date on pre-pub release. Use the referenced post https://forums.j-novel.club/post/213316 to find an inspired review of Dahlia in Bloom in the context of the Ascendance of a Bookworm universe.

10/10 title and opening

A bit slow on my part to realize Dahlia is on ketchup.
I had some problems with it at first [some of the early commentary in-story concerning drinking bothered me a lot.]
If you find that also being a problem for you initially, soldier on!
While Food Porn continues to abound, there's just enough backing off from the drinking aspects to no longer bother me, and the rest of the story is wondrous.
And they succeed in linking all the Food Porn into necessary plot development to a far greater extent than many do; it ties into product development in a very believable manner.Anyway, it's well worth checking out while you have the chance.

Thanks, the repeated drinking contests in volume 1 was one of the reasons I gave up after that. I wasn't offended or triggered, it's just not my cup of tea. (That would be Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire Gold.)
It sounds like I should give it another try while I can do it as a free trial before buying.

It's a bit late to ask, but is Sponger Life really about someone who just lives off of spouse in another world? Does he stay a useless parasite?
The description is so far away from something I'd want to read that I've never given it a try.

No, he doesn't stay useless, that's kind of the point. He gets more and more involved in politics as the series goes on (mostly out of necessity because things just keep happening), and she's upset about it because she knows she promised him that, so a there's them dealing with that, too.
-
@HarmlessDave The title and the covers are very misleading. It's more about MC's political maneuvering in order to get things done without standing out too much (in order not to undermine his wife's authority in a highly patriarchal society) and trying to balance work and family where his wife is his boss and his family is his job.
-
Pretty much what they say above.
It’s also notable that he’s not out to spread the gospel of soy sauce or uplift the natives, but try to live a comfortable life and care for his family. He does bring over some useful information, but its in service to his main objective. Also, no harem seeking. He actively avoids it in fact.
Definitely recommend overall.

It's very unfortunate that Mapping: Trash Skill was canceled after volume 8 with that rush ending. I was looking forward to them finishing the current dungeon and exploring others to explain the overall story behind dungeon creation.

The speculation I've come across [on this side of the big water] was the hasty ending was due to it having been canceled already being known to the author.
A "Let's do the best I can in the space allowed to wrap it up, at least?" kinda thing.Dunno if that was the case or not.

Thank you for the heads up and what you said makes a ton of sense. It's unfortunate because I thought it was a great series. Nice character development compared to most titles out, character grind versus OPed from day one, enough fan service, and a nice balance between comedy and seriousness.
I hope the creator attempts to make a sequel one day.
