JNC Mobile App Error due to Bad Connection
-
Whenever the app encounters an issue due to a bad internet connection, it gets into a failure mode where it requires an app restart to function again.
In particular, I get the following error (or similar, it depends on the specific failure):
Failed loading releases: No response received from server - SocketException: Connection reset by peer (OS Error: Connection reset by peer, errno = 104), address = labs.j-novel.club, port = 42700
«Retry»
Pressing the retry button, even after switching wifi or otherwise resolving the connection issues seems to do nothing. For the app to be useable again, I need to dismiss it and launch it again.
I encounter this issue regularly because I tend to roam around my house, and due to size/layout I have more than one Access Point. If I happen to attempt to refresh the feed or do a operation that requires the server while going from one room/ap to the other, it fails. It also tends to not record the latest reading progress information when that happens.
Other information:
- App version V2.0.0 (per about page)
- Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 (SM-X700)
- Android Version: 13 (security 1 OCT 2023)
- One UI 5.1.1
- Google Play system update 1 MAY 2023
- Build number: TP1A.220624.014.X700XXS6BWI1
I've also seen it happen on a Ulefone Power Armor 13 with Android 11.

I also get this issue when I have to switch to my kindle to my phone's data via tethering when I'm out. Sometimes closing out of the app and reopening doesn't help, I have to log out and log back in instead.
