Light novel suggestion

Today was released 1st episode of Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records, I know that rights for manga hold seven seas now, idk how it is with the LN, but it will be cool if someone license it.

Hey Sam,
骸骨騎士様、只今異世界へお出掛け中
:D -
@Bryan tell me why people won't dismiss it as an overlord clone
-
@Sam-Pinansky Haters gonna hate
-
@Sam-Pinansky because overlord is well received? I love overlord, but I also love anything like it. This has enough differences to justify it being similar.
His a warrior with all skills almost
No guild or friend
Doesn't care about returning or finding people from the past
Wants to stay hidden even though his really bad at it
It's more of a carefree attitude from what I read so far compared to overlords more serious toneSam we want our overlord clone!
-
@Sam-Pinansky Hold on Overlord is bad now? I heard the same things somewhere when Season 2 was announced and I shook my head considering all the good things I've heard about Overlord. It's worrisome if people consider Overlord bad.
From what Bryan said it sounds rather intriguing though.

Some minor gripes regarding some of the characters being annoyingly fawning at times but overall I'd say Overlord is a fun, solid and refreshing anime. However part of what made it refreshing and one of its core focuses was the relatively unusual premise so I can see why people would be sensitive to things being considered an Overlord clone.

I am up to date with Overlord LN and I must say that it is a very good LN. Characters, story, pace, are pretty good. Skeleton knight is not bad WN.
-
@sparhawk6 Guessing not much actual romantic relationships in the series though, right, just pandering scenes? I mean, the protagonist has no flesh, so at least he seems out. =/
The first volume of Overlord was a bit rough for me. I'm not really itching to read more, though I hear volume 2 is better.
-
@Terrence Hmm, not every LN focus on romance. For me it is sometimes good to read some LN that actually not involve feelings. I like mostly action in this LN.
There is xyz novel that offers romantic developments so why copy - paste them. -
@Terrence for a Ln with romance and family I recommend Jobless recarnation. I'm reading it now and I like how the protagonist isn't dense in that regard. However currently no official LN localization, only fan translation of the web novel
-
Mushoku Tensei is good, I like the WN, finished it a long time ago. But there is simply too many LN with romance atm.
-
@sparhawk6 really want official license because the actual books deviate from the Web Novel later on
-
@sparhawk6 I actually don't mind if there's only relationships for side characters, not necessarily the copy paste Kirito x Asuna. Riza x Mustang is one good example. Something really out of left field is cool too relationship wise, the cover girl / forced lead taking a backseat to another female love interest, though that's rare I know (though maybe more common in LNs since they occasionally seem to pander to readers' interests over the author's initial designs).
I'm reading Devil Is A Part Timer, and I root more for any possible side main character development than the MCs potential relationship at this point. Go

Well, if you like character that have small harem and is more like a matchmaker for his disciples, read World Teacher. My point is only that not every LN needs a romantic side.
-
Isn't there a related novel for Faraway Paladin? Cause anything with more FP is a clear winner
-
@Ryu-J I don't think so, at least not thematically. The author worked on Arcadia Garden, but that's a different universe.
-
You guys HAVE to license Gunota ga Mahou Sekai ni Tensei Shitara, Gendai Heiki de Guntai Harem o Tsukucchaimashita!?.
-
@Sam-Pinansky Is Saekano a lost cause since Yen press has the Manga but not the LN? It's such a huge hit in Japan I'm baffled why we don't have the light novel available in the west ):
The fan translation group got a cease and detest only into volume 5 or something with bits in between missing since like 2016. -
@sam-pinansky regarding Skeleton Knight:
I've read the first 5 novels and think it would be received as an overlord clone there are many differences. The protagonist is waking up in that different world (that is oh wonder like a game he played). When he learns that he has the body of a skeleton from a vanity item he used before. He is determined to hide his identity while exploring the world. He is completly alone and tries to scrap by when he later, over time, meets several people whom he helps out in a pinch and gets his first goal to help one of them complete their mission and later to find a way to undo his skeletal body "curse". (Hope that was as spoiler free as possible).
Edit: What is similiar is that in both the protagonists apply to an adventurers guild. And do some work and learn how the world works from that. In Skeleton knight i think that happend in vol 1 but that is just a means to set up several encounters an later on isn't used as a plot device anymore. Where as in overlord its at least a large topic in books 2 and 3 thou I havn't read much further because I'm stuck at mid vol 3 and don't have an interest to read it atm.
Skeleton Knight is clearly more lighthearted and feels more like DeathMarch or Isekai Smartphone (thou it has more character development than those [read 3 vols. DeathMarch and 4 vols Smartphone], correct me if I'm wrong). Traveling the world with a vague goal and the protagonist often follows his wimps and gets in dump situations because of it.
I would really love a professional release of it (was one of the 5 novels I put in the survey). There also is a Fan Translation, i think up to vol. 7.
