Ren enjoys globally popular Fantasy RPG series known as "Legend of the Seven Heroes." After completing the record-breaking speed-run of the second game, he is offered the chance to play a special route in the game. Coming to consciousness, he realizes that he's been reincarnated as the friend-character that betrays the protagonist as a major twist in the second game. This betrayal was for reasons left mysterious and unrevealed for the eventual third release. However, the betrayal shocked everyone as he had plunged the Kingdom into chaos by assassinating the fan-beloved Saint.
Wishing not to follow that path, Ren begins using his knowledge in an attempt to live quietly in the countryside with his family and the mysterious sword summoning skill. Only for the future Saint to show up and take an interest in him; thus beginning a dramatic action packed adventure.
Why:
For those that enjoy a slightly angsty mystery, this seems like it'll be a fun series. It's got a good sense of mystery as the protagonist is slowly exploring the world and learning about how the world of the game came to be and what events could be changed. All while the mystery remains of how the person he took over would have grown up to become a villain. It's also got a bit of romance which I would be eager to read. For those that enjoy LitRPG elements, the protagonist does have a unique skill that lets him summon different types of swords and level them up. It's a bit of a slow-going publication, but I hope it manages to become a completed series in the future as I would like to read it.
