@hatguy12 Wait you were browsing on a... kindle? I have no idea if kindle can even handle the kind of javascript our site uses...
-
@sam-pinansky A Kindle Fire tablet, not one of their (more) pure e-readers, but yes. It has a mostly full web browser, "Silk." The JNC site normally works fine, except for occasional issues like these that seem to be more related to site updates interacting poorly with now out of date caches (I noticed after my earlier post that my PC's chrome browser was having similar problems with the JNC site too).
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who reads on similar devices.
-
For each webpage, Silk decides which browser subsystems (networking, HTML or page rendering) to run locally on the device and which to run remotely on its own Amazon EC2 servers.
Sounds like invalidating the cache might not be that easy. Even if there's no cache on amazon's server, something could technically be cached on the OS level — time for a factory reset! (idk if it really works that way anywhere, but it's not impossible).

I have a custom ROM on mine and even with stock ROM you can use third-party browsers. Besides, most of people would use an app.

Do you know if you can use the (official) apps?
I've never had any luck trying to install something that's on Google Play to the Fire. I suppose it might be possible by getting the apk directly, but I've never felt strongly enough about an app to go through the extra effort.
-
@hatguy12 Back in my days™, .apk sideloading on Fire was as easy as it is on any other android: enable it in the settings and open the .apk file.
Actually installing google Play may be better in the long run but it's apparently still as much pain as it used to be. -
With premium account I can't acces to the "avaible parts".
I remember that since I registered I have always been able to access these parts (even if I already have the epub).
-
@zchronos I'm guessing this is because IsekaiMaou was on catchup last month, so all of its prepubs were available to all members. This month it's no longer on catchup, so you can only read the first part, along with any books currently being translated or recently finished being translated.
-
@zchronos If you periodically check this page: https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/534/expiring-volumes
You will see when volumes expire for everyone, whether you are premium or regular member. Summon a Demon Lord Volume 2 expired on April 15, and Volume 3 just expired a week ago on June 15. -
@legitpancake Oh.... sorry, I didn't know that it also happened with premium members.
Every time I like less JNC.
-
But every month you get two new entire series on catchup...
-
I think the FAQ about print versions should be updated to mention that currently Seven Seas is already printing some of JNC's series.
-
Not sure where to post this, but Smartphone Amazon reviews for volumes 5 and 7 have somehow combined, and volumes 8 and 9 are not grouped together with the rest of the series.
The latter problem is also apparent with Summon a Demon Lord 4, Grimgar 10, Daimaou 6, and possibly others that I missed :) -
@legitpancake Could you make me an actual list?
-
@sam-pinansky I’m not quite sure what you mean. I’ve gone through Amazon for most of your series’, but it’s possible I missed some.
-
I'm using Windows 10 , Chrome V67.0.3396.99
When trying to download "The Unwanted Undead Adventurer: Volume 2" the download link sends me an error :
{"error":{"name":"Error","status":500,"message":"ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/home/deploy/ebooks/the-unwanted-undead-adventurer-volume-2.epub'","errno":-2,"code":"ENOENT","syscall":"open","path":"/home/deploy/ebooks/the-unwanted-undead-adventurer-volume-2.epub"}}

@al92 Nothing new. The url becomes active when the timer expires, but the ebooks are uploaded manually. Try again later and it should be available.

This post is deleted! -
@al92 there was a hold up before, however it is now available for download.
-
@rahul-balaggan Sweet , thanks for the heads up!
