The New Gate

Alphapolis made The New Gate into a MOBILE GAME?!
-
Happy that it is getting a translation, a little sad that it s One Peace Books who acquired the license. My rating of them has decreased following the shambles of Tate Yuusha aka Shield Hero, mainly because there is no consistency with the translation or apparent proof-reading....never mind the 9 month delay.....
But, the novel at least has charm, so happy for the release.

One Peace Books got the Manga, the LN remains unobtainable at the moment
-
@rahul-balaggan Why do you call it unobtainable?
-
@zing Alphapolis seemingly has no interest in licensing their LN series.
I believe Sam had tried in the past but didn't get a response.
-
@village-idiot Well, pretty much most of the new gate is fan translated anyway.
-
@zing I'm more interested in a possible license of isekai Tensei Soudouki. The New Gate has great characters and world building, but there's no tension due to Deus Ex Machina MC being OP AF and just happens to have the exact skill(s) needed in any situation.
-
@village-idiot Well, he did solo the final boss of a death game. For me, it was the mystery for why he was kept in the world despite everyone else being able to log off. But I suspect he isn't actually the real person, but a copy that was left behind just like the other players who died.
I've seen isekai Tensei Soudouki a couple of times here and there, but choose to ignore it since am not that much into split-personality MC and its shounen to boot.
-
I still hope, that J-Novel Club will license this.
-
@clarabelle But please not One Peace Books, they do a terrible job in translating... I really hope the license for the novel will go someday to JNC.
-
@claire-lilly better them then nobody tho.

Not if they do such a poor job as Alphapolis's first foray into English light novels that AP decides to completely cut itself off from further English licenses.

I'd hope a publisher didn't have that thin skin, otherwise I fear we've already suffered the first casualties after Sol Press' foray into the game...

@korppi Well, considering what's happened with Sekai Project and the other manga they licensed (Gate - Thus the JSDF Fought There!) I can't see them being eager to license out more things...

What happened with that? At least it still has an Amazon page, unlike another manga of theirs I bought the first volume of, 1 x 1/2 - My Half of You, and that one I can't even find on their own site anymore...
-
@korppi I don't know all the details (just what I've read here and there really...), but V2 was supposed to be out ages ago and they kept delaying it; at some point they simply stopped even talking about it like it doesn't exist(?). I also remember reading that either the manga author or AlphaPolis directly tweeted that they couldn't even get in contact with Sekai Project about the manga. Basically: they had a disastrous release of V1, they kept delaying V2 (without a proper reason?), and even the JP side itself can't contact the English publisher to get an update.
If you consider all of that they haven't exactly had a nice experience with licensing that title...
-
I just hope J-Novel Club will finally license this.
-
@labellearabesque Sam has previously revealed that he's tried to get in touch with Alphapolis and they simply don't have an international licensing department and have said they are "not interested in licensing."
-
@myskaros So this means, we can wait until our death beds for this to be licensed, haaahhh... I think I will give up...😢
-
@labellearabesque It just means don't get your hopes up. Things might change over time, such as when we got Kadokawa books for the first time, but AP's situation is quite different.
