Ashita, Boku wa Shinu. Kimi wa Ikikaeru.
Tomorrow, I will die. You will revive.
Bokushinu
LNDBPublisher: Dengeki
Volumes: 3 vols and side volume
-Won the Dengeki Novel gold prizeSo, I read the 1st volume on Hellping site 2 years ago or smth.
Basically, the synopsis says
"Born with a scary face Sakamoto Akizuki has always been feared in his school, however one night he witnesses a girl’s death.He is faced with a choice where he is asked a question by a mysterious person, “for half of your life span will you revive her?” After following through with his decision the girl is brought back to life and now begins the romantic comedy between Akizuki and the girl Yumesaki."
However, it failed to say that Yumesaki is a fujoshi, and they will share Akizuki's body and let's not spoil it lol
It's funny light-hearted short series but also has times when it's quite heartbreaking and I am sure that the first volume will make laugh and break your phone, or whatever you're using to read.
I remember someone describing the 1st novel as "It fells like when you fail 100 level dungeon on level 99 and got sent back to level 1 only to find teleport portal to level 100 on that floor" lol
-
The feels from that setup remind me of the comedic scene in Space Patrol Luluco episode 8 where
Please no. Someone Grant the character in this novel a long life (I get the feeling they'll both end up sacrificing life for each other so they both only live to 45-50 or so with no intervention). =[

@terrence
When I reread the thread, I noticed that I forgot to mention big plot point.They share the body...u know
Like Your name but they are only swapping in one body. -
Hey, I was just reading volume 2 earlier. I don't know why but this series really has a special place in my heart. Perhaps because I read the first volume years ago and quite liked it - got trolled by it too. I just really like the interactions between the characters.
The author hadn't been active for years after finishing this series, until last year when he released a new book. This time for Futaba Bunko, so his new book is more of general literature / light bungei rather than a light novel and published in a such popular label too. So he definitely upranked after years of silence ^^

This sounds a lot like Half & Half mini series manga by Kouji Seo (Suzuka, Kimi Machi, Fuuka) except a lot lighter I guess?
-
Lol the Illustrator is sulfuric acid?
Anyways, I would welcome a JNC title that is a little more serious.
-
@hak0
The Wage of Angel of Death is 300 yen per hour, right? (Man, that one cheap shinigami, like it's cheaper than a Big Mac)
Same publisher as "I want to eat your pancreas"?
Maybe, I should bug 7seas about it in the next survey.That's one cover I would love ot have on my shelf~
-
@cosm1cfall
Haven't read the 3rd volume but It seems that ending wasn't a happy one.
(So...it might be of equal feels) -
@legitpancake
When I read this one, it was in 2016, where I just started reading LNs.
So I wasn't used to the weird illustrators names just yet and I kept thinking if it's a typo...H2SO4? sulfuric acid? wut? -
@bloodygaikotsu Second Path's Otaku de Neet is pretty funny
-
@legitpancake
That's some paradoxical name
(I dunno what is weirder, the long LNs titles or the illustrators' name) -
@LegitPancake @BloodyGaikotsu
Otaku de Neet is the author's "name" though...
The illustrator is Kurodeko. -
Yup that one. I'll probably buy and read it if it ever comes on Bookwalker. It is indeed by the same label as Pancreas, which is definitely not a light novel label. Seven Seas didn't call "I want to eat your pancreas" a light novel either if I recall correctly.

@hak0
I wonder if there's a term for this kind of books.
They sound like merge of regular novels and LNs in a way.& there's increase of such labels recently
MediaWorks Bunko
Kodansha Box
Futaba
etc. -
@hak0
I think Shueisha got a similar Bunko label called "Orange Bunko" -
@doublemangekyo said in Ashita, Boku wa Shinu. Kimi wa Ikikaeru. (Tomorrow, I will die. You will revive.):
Kurodeko
Black Forehead?
-
Maybe you guys should move this conversation to a topic other than one that's supposed to be for discussing this book...
-
There is definitely a term for these! In fact there are several. They are called キャラノベル - character novels or ライト文芸 (light bungei) - light literature. There isn't yet a set term for them. I explained the difference between such novels and light novels on reddit before. You should read my explanation ^^
Quite a few of the books you have requested here actually belong to this category such as "Mikkakan no Koufuku" and "Hitotsu Hi no Ko no Yuki no Naka". You have also requested a few things that are considered general literature such as "The Tatami Galaxy".
Some other popular light bungei labels aside from those you have mentioned are Shinchou Bunkou Nex and Kodansha Taiga. Incidentally those two labels are doing some collab event right now.
-
@hak0
It's good to have name (I always call them LN-like novels in my mind lol)@hak0 said in Ashita, Boku wa Shinu. Kimi wa Ikikaeru. (Tomorrow, I will die. You will revive.):

Actually, I think I mentioned more non-LN book than LNs lol
Like due to the fact that Mari Okada's autobiography is published by Bungeishunjuu, I mentioned a lot of general literature books I wanted:
-Kuuchuu Buranko
-The Incite Mill
-Lesson of the Evil
Ofc, they didn't get much attention T_TI think "A Lollypop or A Bullet" is also a general literature book since it's under "Kodakawa Shoten" just like Tatami Galaxy
Ah, If I recall correctly
"Hitotsu Hi no Ko no Yuki no Naka" was first published by Fantasia Bunko.
Nex's version is revised and rewritten version.
So, it was a LN first xD?Well, anyways
That's enough so that @myskaros doesn't get mad -
So, it was a LN first xD?
Well I can think of a few LNs that would be published as light bungei if they were published today. Such labels only became popular in the last few years.
I think "A Lollypop or A Bullet" is also a general literature book
It was a LN first but due to its popularity republished as general literature I believe.
Ofc, they didn't get much attention T_T
Well that is not surprising considering J-NC is a light novel publisher and most people are here for light novels. Even your light bungei requests didn't receive much attention. It just proves they have a different target audience though ^^
