@shiroi-hane
New volume soon I think
And Considering I found this under the same publisher while looking around.
Official site
http://micromagazine.net/gcn/lineup/pupil08/
Halfway through the first book and it looks good. Seems to be a lesser fantasy Log Horizon esque story.
8 Volumes are also out.
Pretty sure an english title would more accurately be read as "She calls herself the pupil of a wise man"
So far the story is mostly being moved by the plot which has been moving at a pleasant slice of life like pace. All though I heard it becomes a bit more action oriented in the later novels.

1st volume had a relatively decent fan translation, however the translator went AWOL over a year ago. So 2 chapters after the first book and thats it.EDIT: (Im an idiot)
@LegitPancake
I don't think the j-novel devs even care personally with how they handle dealing with fan translators(no dcmas and the overall goal of just outright delivering a better translation guaranteeing those sales) and not only to add to that alot of these series wouldn't sell too well in the first place with out the following already having existed. Nobody would know alot of these existed with out the help a few certain image boards and forums. Hell I'd argue some of this stuff only does well because of it oddly enough.Anyways my only reason for posting stuff like this here is to basically "hint hint" please pick this up because surely me and a few others will buy it. As many of the series Ive found exist either in translation hell or in a state of a dead or M.I.A. translators poject bin. When you consider a fun story with fantastic art it kills me inside that it might never see the light of day. Which is a shame since alot of this stuff is worth the 7 bucks on kindle to kill time with and have an enjoyable read. I'd argue smartphone(which I originally expected to be really bad) I found to be a hella fun guilty pleasure, and few more I'd welcome.

@john-collins Oh, uh, all I meant was "I read the web novel, so I can't personally vouch for the light novel, but I assume it's also swell" :o
-
@myskaros
Ah, oh well no biggie then.Belay that I'm an idiot and linked the wrong person. Sorry yo!
Should have been-
@LegitPancakeOh well my point stands...

@john-collins
It looks like vol 4 is out on the 30th, along with the second volume of the manga. Neither are available to pre-order on BookWalker yet.
Pupil I've looked at because I quite like the artist, but not one I've actually picked up yet. -

Not linking to sub-legal content is more just to keep everyone above board. "It only takes one rotten apple to sour the barrel;" for example, if JNC receives a complaint that "people" are posting links to copyright violations, they become forced to take action. It could mean bans, it could mean strict rules on what's allowed to be posted, who knows. It could also be nothing.
I think there's more freedom in policing ourselves than forcing JNC to police us. No point in taking unnecessary risks, you know? Everyone here knows how to use Google.

@myskaros
Fair enough, if a mod deems it be, just snip my links. Besides Itll probably be a long while till I link anything else since nothing else has my attention. To be honest Ive found more than Pupil and Sword, but I guess the others just don't click with me. I'm probably just biased on fantasy adventure hijinks even if they're of different flavors. Just gonna play that long and hopefully not painful license waiting game. -
@jefferson-bailon I read the premise and now want that super fluffy title in my life. You sir, are either a saint or a monster.
-
@jampodevral ahahaha rather as the one who suggested it i am the one who most want this!! :D
-
@jefferson-bailon I dont follow the LN scene in Japan, cause it would make me cry over the books i cant read.

Do you watch anime? I'm constantly crying over all the shows that end unresolved. My poor Sakurako-san. :crying_cat_face:
-
@terrence The fact that many series exist just to be sales boosters for LN actually causes me to avoid shows. I have watched 2 shows this year, 1 last year and 1 the year before. And that was after a 4 year skip of all current anime.

This year is pretty rough. Best shows are mostly LN or visual novel adaptations, so lots of skipping those for the original source.
I am watching that MMO Junkie one since I believe it's based on an anime. Mori-Mori-chan best of the year! xP
Justus R Stone released his weekly top ten selling LNs in Japan video. Only one LN returning, so lots of new stuff, majority not licensed.
Most interesting titles for me were the new series by the Konosuba author, the farmer Isekai, and the Cooking for Mercenaries Isekai.

@terrence
Glad to see Pupil and Rokujouma there. I never knew how well Rokujouma really did in japan other than that it had to at least be doing adequate to reach 27 volumes. -
@john-collins Rokujouma is the best seller series from HJ Bunko. It always appear on Oricon chart on the first week of it's release before disappear from the list next week.
In fact on it's 10th anniversary Yurika is chosen as poster girl for HJ Bunko.
-
@neoankara
Oh wow neat, and yurika of all people hah. -
I don't now if anyone has requested it yet but I figure that since there is nothing like it in the current lineup and given that it appears to be fairly popular it might be a good bet for this site to pick up.

Dantalian no Shoka
Shakugan no Shana (only 2 volumes were ever licensed, and I think it's 20+ volumes)
Boogiepop Series
Shigofumi
Ben-To
Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru -

I hadn't heard about that, that makes me very happy :D

I've requested this before I'm sure, as well as it's probably one of my requests from the survey, but I feel the need to do this again since I'm currently re-watching the anime adaptation.
Aru Origin Story Time. A long time ago in on a computer far far away. An Aru before he was the Arifureta Crusading Quality Warrior you see probably him as today. An Aru still less than 5 years into anime. This Aru has found love in romance series. However, he ran into sad endings constantly. Romance series constantly ending with broken hearts in love triangles.
In the mass consumption of just about anything with the romance genre, Aru came across a series and started it like usual. This series wasn't the usual though. Within the first episode alone, a confession rang out. And it was directed at 4 heroines simultaneously. This protagonist refused to be wishy washy right off the bat and immediately declared his intent for the harem ending in which all heroines end up happy. And thus the Harem Lover Aru was born. This was the series that made Aruseus493 the Harem loving maniac he is today. This is Seitokai no Ichizon.
Over the years, I've watched and re-watched this series numerous times. When I had once won the 20,000 yen in one of the Bookwalker raffles, I immediately leaped onto the manga and loved every bit of it. When the first volume of the LN was translated, I fell in love with it again. I even stalked the sequel manga to completion and every iteration of the series continues to be vastly different as the author truly goes all out in making every medium a unique experience which constantly pokes fun at the other adaptations and original. Sadly though, only one volume of the LN has ever been fully translated and I wish every day for the series to get licensed.
The author of Seitokai no Ichizon is absolutely great at turning tropes on their head. He showed that harems don't have to end in sadness of the majority of the heroines. And he even went onto write the recent romcom hit known as Gamers! which re-purposes misunderstandings often cringed at into comedy tools while driving forward the romance.
So here I am once again requesting Seitokai no Ichizon while recommending that anyone that hasn't seen the anime that likes romcoms/harems to absolutely watch the anime as well.
