I agree with @myskaros, as less than diplomatic as it was phrased. The sheer fetishization of certain elements of the Japanese language by some fans is insane and silly as hell. This isn't to say that it's quite possible in Mahouka's case that it was poorly done - but the way people focus on honorifics as so important so often makes me cringe.

The only thing I feel bad for with official translators, such as Yen Press, is that even though any LN series they get is licensed by them, people still find a way to look for illegal fan translations.
I only buy two titles from YP, and both of them have robust online discussions based on the latest fan translations, which are 6-9 volumes ahead of the official licensed translation.

Could Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi get picked-up, the light novel is at 5 volumes currently, and I want to see it translated before it gets too far a head.
Synopsis: Mukouda Tsuyoshi, summoned from modern Japan to a different world of sword and magic.
He thought of what kind of a huge adventure was waiting for him, but actually, Mukouda is just a civilian who got caught in a 『Hero Summoning』!!
And that Mukouda’s base status shabby compared to the legitimate heroes(There’s even three of them!)……
On top of that, the king who summoned Mukouda and the rest were suspicious, and Mukouda left the castle by himself realizing 「Ah, this is the type that heroes would only be used」.
The only thing that Mukouda could rely on in this world is his unique skill 『Net Supermarket』――it can only order goods from modern Japan to the different world.
“It is not for combat, but if I use it properly, I might have no trouble living?”, Mukouda thought lightly, but actually――he found out that the modern「food」that he ordered would display ridiculous effects!
On top of that, ridiculous guys who were attracted by a different world’s food gathers……?!!

@paul-nebeling which series are they?
-
@xftg123 I would guess SAO and Mahouka?
-
@aruseus493 makes sense. Also, definitely can't wait for the SOL Press licenses to come out :-).
-
@aruseus493 @Xftg123 SAO and The Devil is a Part-Timer
-
@paul-nebeling I knew it was SAO, but I never expected "Devil Is A Part Timer". Eh, YP's only 8 volumes behind by "Part Timer". But hey, you do you.

It's surprising there are a lot of these "Obese character tries to become thin Isekai" stories lately. Here's another one, female focused.
Bookwalker

https://t.co/CKdgXaVfva?amp=1It's about a girl that is summoned into the world of a manga / anime as one of the cruel, mean countess' in a prince Charming story. Unfortunately, this character meets her demise early in the story. To try and counteract her demise, she is going to... Lose weight so she blends in with the other nice characters in the story? I don't really see how that is going to help her, but that's the gist I get.
I unfortunately don't have a good sense of what the name of this is.

Japan is obsessed with it, from what I've heard from one or two folks who live there.
I mean, being fat isn't healthy (said as he is fat) but there are some INSANE things over there, and there is a really larg amount of actual hate for those who are overweight there.
Friend of mine had a tooth ache, went to a doctor. Doctor told him that going on a diet would help his tooth.
It's why I like the guy in Me, a Genius? At least he's portrayed as fairly smart and stable, even if he acts weird sometimes.

If I noticed I was a treasure-box type monster - mimic.
Moreover, the surroundings are dungeons full of monsters, and adventurers will come when suddenly placed on the first floor of the basement!
What is already somehow, if I tried desperately to run away, my arms and legs grew something!
...... No, what am I supposed to do?This one is on Syosetu.

Volume 1 isn't even out in Japan yet. So yes, you can be ahead of the curve on Treasure Chest reincarnation if you strike now. =P

@terrence it sometimes makes me wonder how many wild ideas they have for isekai series they plan to publish? Still, this series would been surreal to me if there wasn’t a vending machine reincarnation series.
-
@terrence Ooh this reminds me of the story I've read at RoyalRoad "Everyone loves Large chests". They have even released a couple of books of it on Amazon. Thats about an actual Minmic monster rather than being reborn as one but I wonder if it'll follow similar beats throughout?

I'll be checking it out on Syosetu (machine translation can be rough though). I know there's a spider lady in it, and that these characters are monster spawns that appear from black hole type points in dungeons.
Edit: So, the hero is fairly logical. He deduces that when a party of adventurers sees a chest, they will immediately try to open it. His only mean of attack, a single bite on one Adventurer, leaves him open to attack by the Adventurers' party. The main character is a girl with long legs, and she acquires high heels as a reward item from a comrade early on. xD

I would like if they picked up. Ascendance of a Bookworm - I'll Become a Librarian At Any Cost!
