If it's anime this will be the fastest an anime will have it's original source materials first volume out in English, before it's even out!

Usually it takes a few years before they arrive. Haha!

Anyways, it's probably just a pachinko machine.

@Sam-Pinansky Has a good chance of being anime considering it already has 6 volumes out (last I checked) and is already 4 years old since it started LN publication. Looking forward to my Isekai Smartphone anime. :3

I know this does not really help with being specific, but I'd go for anything where a mentally innocent character makes the reader less stressed in real-life.
Think Tohru Honda of Fruits Basket, Lime from Saber Marionette J, Hina-Ichigo from Rozen Maiden. That sort of purity makes me less volcanic and angry in real-life. A calm-down character, if you will.

"Hey, Mr. "Everything was Better in the 90's"! Your internet speed is so slow that it took you 8 hours to watch 60 Minutes!"

That's happened before. DanMachi, for instance.

@kuuderes_shadow And it happens all the time with manga.

It's only light novels where it's rare. I think the before mentioned danmachi might be the first?

Or did that volume or two of Gosick come out before the anime did?

@kuuderes_shadow at the pace that isekai smartphone is going, it may very well be the first time a light novel has fully translated all the volumes used to make the anime.

With Danmachi we only had 2 volumes translated out of the 5 used for the anime.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

It'd be pretty amazing to sell off your service "You finished Isekai Smartphone anime, why don't try out the LN fully translated up to the Japanese release~". I don't know, I am bad at taglines. Haha!

Considering the pessimism from everyone in the LN/Manga scene about how the publishers are the worst since they're so slow it'd probably get some eyes on you.

@Sam-Pinansky GOSICK didn't just come out before the anime aired - it was out of print by the time the anime aired. You've also got the Zaregoto series which finally got an OVA adaptation last year. And of course we now have Death March which has an anime planned and the first volume is already out. Sword Oratoria as well I suppose

@Rahul-Balaggan I can't think of any off the top of my head where the first season of the anime came out after all volumes it adapted had been released, but Kizumonogatari was out before the first film of that volume was released.
I also think the upcoming film of No Game No Life is supposed to be an adaptation of volume 6? The volume in question isn't out yet, but the film doesn't even have a date yet, although it's supposed to be this year. It's likely that the volume will be out before the anime airs.

It's still pretty unusual in the light novel market, though, yes. And would certainly be useful for advertising this service.

@kuuderes_shadow Well, don't forget about our very own release of Occultic;Nine.

That was the first time the book and the anime which it adapted was being released at exactly the same time I think.

Yeah, Occultic;Nine is probably the closest for a TV series, although it's a bit of an oddball in several ways, like it being a 1 cour adaptation of a series with just 2 volumes out, and where almost the entire series was an adaptation of the second of those volumes. And said second volume didn't come out as a volume until February, a couple of months after the anime ended. Although parts of it were available to read on this site before that, and a couple of months is, as I said, closer than anything else has gotten (to the best of my knowledge).

@kuuderes_shadow Chiyomaru is kind of the reverse Nisio. Too many projects at the same time, some left unfinished. At least his visual novels are always finished products. But he's definitely a workaholic that stretches himself way too far off the initial goalpost.

@Jaquobus I ask my friend about Violet Evergarden, and he says that story ends in vol 2. So if someone will license it, it will really make my day better, because this LN is pretty good story wise.

Didn't realize that Hagure Yuusha no Kichiku Bigaku had the same publisher as Smartphone does, so throwing my hat for that one too. Seen it mentioned a few times, but a few more mentions probably wouldn't hurt...

I'd love to see "Bu ni Mi wo Sasagete Hyaku to Yonen. Elf de Yarinaosu Musha Shugyou" translated, it's an excellent light novel, though very unpopular. It ended recently with 10 volumes, unfortunately.

@DerMond said in Novel pick-up requests:

First, I am not really interested by most of the light novels produced today, and would therefore like to know if you would be interested in some "old school" light novels, some of them partially published in the US before being dropped. I am talking about the likes of Kino no Tabi, Boogiepop, Kara no Kyoukai, Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita and others in the same vein.

I'm super grave-digging here, but seeing Kino and Boogiepop mentioned triggered my nostalgia. I would be happy to see one or both of these series get a little more translation love, even though (as @Sam-Pinansky said) the rights could be a little tricky to navigate.
