Kaifuku Jutsushi Yarinaoshi (Redo of Healer) from the Author of Dungeon Builder: The Demon King’s Labyrinth is a Modern City!

@TheRedJet Oh, I remember there used to be more volumes in the web novel, intriguing.
-
First Anime Key Visual + ANime will be released in 2021!
-
I cannot believe this anime is going ahead, have they seen the content.
Like wow, I can just imagine the absolutely S storm this is going to cause upon release.
-
@catstorm haha, yeah, I am looking forward to both anime & the fallout.
-
This post is deleted! -
@catstorm Why would they even go through with this at all? They literally took one of the greatest works of all time, and shit in it's mouth with this abomination.
-
@Ezekiel-Cupid-nb1v6iy what do you mean??
-
I remember reading a fan translation for this novel a long time ago, not knowing much about it... then I dropped it HARD when the MC starts to go off the rails a bit and punishes people who didn't even do anything wrong to him in his first life.
I would vote a HARD NO to JNC licensing this title. Would much rather see them devote resources to do almost any other title.
-
A Big Hell NO due to its contents and the potential image damage for JNC wouldn't be feasible.
Try to suggest it to a Hentai publisher.
-
Flicked through the series (if you can call 4 days of translating a flick) and though it would be somewhat readable, I would have to concur, its a not an immediate purchase for me.
In terms of a series with a potential smit or mature, I would prefer something like the Outaishihi series than this.Could it be something which another publisher might be best placed, probably. For J Novel, I think the most risqué was Jk Haru but even that was nothing like this
-
It looks like an English publisher has refused to license this work. Redo of Healer novel faces challenge of releasing an English version due to refusal from a publisher. Kind of interesting that the light novel/manga won't be published but an anime is airing about it right now and is licensed in the West.
-
Not to mention the anime is getting very controversial reviews.
-
A single publisher refusing to license a light novel is hardly newsworthy. This happens all the time, usually with multiple English publishers not taking the bait. I guess it only made the news this time because it has an anime airing, the eyebrow-raising content, and the author tweeting about it.
-
@LegitPancake The author tweeting about it comes across as fishing to me :)
That said there can be a lot of reasons why publishers don't want to or delay licensing a title, including pure business reasons like pricing and contractual terms. For example The Apothecary Diaries was in high demand for a long time before JNC licensed it, and fans could only speculate on why a series that sold that well in Japan and popular online hasn't been snapped up for a long time.
Fans of Redo really can't do anything about it aside from continue hyping it to signal that there's profit to be had. For me though, it's not the kind of LN that would see my money any time soon.
-
This series is not for JNC. There are other publishers out there who should welcome it. The author can also self-publish. I would buy the first volume of the light novel to support it: to me, the mc is interesting since he's a survivor. I'm not sure I would invest in the entire series since there has been no endgame to the mc's revenge. I would need further information.
-
I can't imagine there are many LN publishers that licensing something like Redo of Healer wouldn't do more damage to their brand than it would benefit them. Even though the largest demo for LN is something like 25-40 YO men, it still tends to have a fairly family-friendly image/feel to it. I can't imagine most people would be happy jumping from like Potion loli, By the Grace of the Gods, White Cat's Revenge, or I'll never set foot in that house again then be like oh look a cute story about a healer getting revenge this time.
-
Yeah, if I was a LN publisher in English I wouldn't touch it for exactly that reason
On the matter of personal taste, I'm put off by the fact the he travelled back in time so the people he reeking his terrible vengeance against technically have not done anything bad yet. That's just a whole quagmire that I do want to get involved with.

To be fair, he lets them abuse him again so that they don't suspect him. Not exactly a redeeming fact, but that specific complaint is addressed at least :< it's still a story about a piece of trash human getting revenge on other humans who are 10x worse than he is.

Fair point. Well.....to those who derive enjoyment from such...things I say enjoy,
I will be over here in the next room enjoying my fluffy romances and snarky isekai protagonists. -
Yea the only publisher I could see getting it is maybe Bookwalker and then translate it as an exclusive there like Ryuo's Work. Or maybe Fakku. But I don't see it getting a physical release either way.
