Seven Seas "Back To School!" Licensing Event

Very disappointing licenses for me - how are they even calling this a "manga / light novels event" when with 9 licenses we only got 1 LN...
Beside that, I do have to wonder how many people ask in their surveys for this - respecting everyone's tastes, but still wondering since I'm sure there are series way, way, way more requested. After jobless reincarnation I had high hopes for this one, but maybe they were too high.
@smiley_101 maybe they are asking too much for the license? I'm pretty sure they know its a requested series or atleast have a idea

Number of requests does not correspond to the chance of successfully obtaining a license. It's a factor worth citing, yes, but there are some authors who don't want their stuff translated to English, there are some companies who play hardball with international licenses, there are numerous other important factors aside from "look at these hundreds of votes we got on this unofficial survey."

@smiley_101 There are many factors involved in getting a licensing agreement to translate it into English and distribute legally. Depending on the original licensing agreement made between the author and the publisher they might not even have rights to distribute that depending on what rights were granted and what restrictions were applied to the agreement.
If I understand correctly, it isn't uncommon for the author to still own the copyright to the story and the publisher own the copyrights to the images put in the book (since they paid the artist to make them). Copyrights and licenses to use other people's copyrighted material is way more complex than most people give it credit for. To translate and use the publisher's artwork you probably have to get an agreement with both the author and publisher which can be tricky. I too want that series officially translated and am eternally hoping for it.
Just keep requesting it patiently and if we are lucky we will get an official translation eventually.

I imagine is has to do with it being old fad (magic highschool) and not new fad (isekai), too.
