With how the anime has pushed "Seishun Buta Yarou Series" to one of the top players on the forums, I wondered if any of the stuff I want has an upcoming anime.
Then I remembered this one!
I mentioned it back, when we were guessing AX licenses and I thought Vertical might pick it up, since it's published by Kodansha Taiga (with whom they have a good relationship) and has an upcoming anime.Author: Mado Nozaki
Publisher: Kodansha Taiga
Status: Completed at 3 volumes (I think? The 3rd book is called '- End - ' so I just assumed lol)
LNDB
Anime Release Date: TBA
Anime PV
Synopsis:
Zen Seizaki, a public prosecutor at Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office, is investigating a case of illegal clinical research related to a drug company and a university. During the investigation, he finds a file that Shin Inaba, an anesthesiologist, kept, which includes blood that is mixed with hair, skin, and a paper written with letter F. As he investigates, he realized there's a hidden plot that is connected with a huge election as well as to a certain person who is in charge of it.The title has a lot of things making it seem outta place here:
- Political Drama
- SF setting
- Mystery
- Thriller
- and it seems like it has a bit of philosophy about suicide , mercy killing and assisted suicide. (or that's what I got from the anime PV)
However, hear me out!
- It's short series so, not much of risk.
- It's like a bet on the anime to get more diverse fan base.
They like the anime, search for it and find the novels, which may lead to gaining a new type group of fandom under JNC who are interested in other type of works (maybe, darker or more serious or even help older titles that fit the description). - The anime won't be around any time soon, so there is some time to get it licensed and translated before that.
- It's from Taiga so It's not strictly a LN so there is not a lot of insert artwork to license or print.
The only downside or problem I can think of is:
There might be some lines around Kodansha Taiga, novels and Box by Vertical (Well, it's only a possibility, nothing explicitly said or known) -
Ah, Mado Nozaki's Babylon. It is a shame we don't have any of his works translated. I have a few them on my kindle, but haven't gotten to reading them yet. A friend of mine described Babylon as a "Kamisu Reina with grown up characters".
Also, yeah, this isn't a light novel. Taiga sells all of their books under general literature.

haven't gotten to reading them yet

I still remember the World Cup bet even if I was not directly involved in it lol -

I've watched 2 episodes of the anime so far and I love it. This series would be my cup of tea. +1

I was already interested from just the blurb, but those first 3ep exceed all my expectations, definitely a serie I would love to see licenced.
It's sad that not much people seems to know of the anime, and it's coming out at the same time as Fate Grand Order Babylonia, sadly I bet some people are going to asume Babylon is just a short name for FGO. -
I'd also want to read this as the Anime is top-notch for now, especially Magase Ai. I don't really care whether it is a light novel or a normal novel, personally, I don't think there is that much of a difference. It might be a hindrance for the novel's popularity if the Anime adapts all the material instead of closing with a cliffhanger but personally, I would still wanna read it.

Man, when Vice-President Clark has President Santiago assassinated by blowing up Earthforce One...
Wait, wrong Babylon.
