Oishii Veranda/Delicious Veranda (Suggestion for J-Novel Heart)
Oishii Veranda/Delicious Veranda
Publisher: Fujimi L Bunko/Fujimi Shobo
Novel: 8 volumes, ongoing as of 2/2020
Synopsis: (as I can understand from Google translation)
18 year old Mori Kurisaka, who started living alone in Tokyo when she entered university, was secretly fascinated by Akita Hajime, the handsome designer in his late 20s, who lives next door. Under the motto of "Grow only what can be eaten," he arranges dishes made from harvested vegetables and plants from his veranda.
Why I Want It:
To continue the crusade for more romance light novels, I wanted to recommend this one to go with the few others that aren't in a high school setting. Many of the other suggestions also have ecchi content (which I have nothing against since I've upvoted them) but I wanted one with a purer heart so to speak.
This series meets my need for a romance series with adult characters that is not an isekai and does not contain any fantasy, supernatural, or sci-fi elements whatsoever. I'll freely admit that it was the covers that drew me in (take a look, they're all beautiful) but the combination of the story, reviews, and covers make the series sound like a light, relaxing and peaceful read, which I feel would be a good fit for JNC. And hey, another cooking novel wouldn't hurt anyone, right? And to set itself apart, this one has a focus on gardening and will have meals you can actually make in our world (I don't know if they're included in the books but the website includes recipes).
The covers are gorgeous. Also good reviews in Amazon.jp, so upvote from me.
Gets my vote
Romance cooking gardening
Not isekei, fantasy, supernatural, or murder
I jumped on that upvote button faster than I do on a bowl of ramen. And I jump on ramen pretty darn fast. :P
Volume 7 coming out 8/10:
Volume 8 came out a couple months ago. I still really, really want this series. It could be a good candidate for J-Novel Heart.
My interest is piqued.
This sounds lovely (and honestly the covers made me a little hungry) and we need more J-heart titles that aren't fantasy, for a change of pace if nothing else.
