General Reading Recommendation Thread (Not Series License Requests)

@Clarys It has the "reverse harem" tag, so I assume it is such a novel. But since the novel only has two volumes and it is not clear, if it will continue, I doubt you will notice much of it. Besides, the protagonist is still a child at this point. And like I already said, the absolute interesting world buildung, including the alchemy and magic part, plus the dungeon/ruin exploring etc. make up for it. I'm not too fond of harem stories either, although it doesn't really bother me much, if it's reverse harem.

Is there another series worth reading on j-novel club?
My rating so far
Bookworm 9/10
Tearmoon 8/10
Altina 7/10 -
@crowdcontrol What are you looking for?
-
Outbreak Co.
-
@piisfun Anything. If you have similar rating to the 3 series above, then we have similar taste. Anything that you consider rating 8 or above

Altina 7/10Well, you've just picked my top three in the same order I'd rate them - so no, I don't know anything else as good as these. I'd probably put Bakarina a.k.a. My Next Life as a Villianess next, at least for the first couple of volumes. I feel subsequent volumes weren't as strong. Economics of Prophesy is another fairly strong contender.
I'm also reading Deathbound Duke's Daughter (it is early days for this translation, I don't have a firm opinion on this yet), Soap, Marielle Clarac, The White Cat's Revenge, I Refuse to be your Enemy.

Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf Fairly light-hearted, technically romance/adventure. Isekai/reverse Isekai. Currently on volume 4. (Friday, 23:00 UTC)
-
The Ordinary, The Extaordinay, and Soap! Definitely a light-hearted romance / adventure. Not an isekai. Currently releases at the same time as Bookworm.
-
Seirei Gensouki Isekai, the main character is reincarnated, several others were summoned. This one gets a little weird to follow sometimes. (Wednesay, 23:00 UTC)
-
I Shall Survive Using Potions A bit of an aquired taste? I mainly picked it up because I enjoy FUNA's (the author) sense of humor. (TL alternates this with Ms. Elf)
-
Campfire Cooking with My Absurd Skill Kind of a slice-of-life / occasional adventure isekai. Similar to Cooking with Wild Game, though I didn't actually enjoy that one. The MC ends up attracting a legendy beast (fenrir) with the smell of his cooking right near the beginning, and it kind of goes from there. (Short break)
-
Economics of Prophecy Has a lot of economics, runs in a somewhat similar vein to bookworm, though more difficult to follow. (caught up)
-
By the Grace of the Gods Slice-of-life isekai. Not really sure how to describe it.

-
@piisfun Are these your recommendation? How come the comments you add to each series feels like a warning to readers, don't read this :p
-
@crowdcontrol No real response to that. I am just really bad with descriptions.
-
@piisfun I think a rating is better than giving each series a warning message.
"little weird to follow sometimes", "acquired taste," " I didn't actually enjoy that one", "difficult to follow" -
@LIbri-Liberorum I like Tearmoon too but I think the single joke the series runs with (Mia is completely different from how people see her) is beginning to wear thin. Would love to see Mia develop more as a character by getting another mental future, bloody diary or something.
Must give Altina a try so.

@crowdcontrol I could recommend you the following:
A Wild Last Boss Appeared!: 10/10
Apparently it's My Fault That My Husband Has The Head of a Beast: 7/10
Bibliophile Princess: 10/10
Deathbound Duke's Daughter: 10/10
Her Majesty's Swarm: 8/10
I Shall Survive Using Potions!: 8/10
Infinite Dendrogram: 8/10!
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!: 7/10
Tearmoon Empire: 8/10
The Tales of Marielle Clarac: 9/10
The White Cat's Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King's Lap: 7/10These are my ratings so far (under the rating 7/10 I wouldn‘t buy the books). The ratings of A Wild Last Boss Appeared! and Deathbound Duke's Daughter are this high (even though there have been just a few parts released so far), because I've already read the web novel version.

I've read and enjoyed all of the titles in @piisfun 's list. You can read at least part 1 of each novel yourself to see if it seems interesting.
I also enjoyed:
- I Refuse To Be Your Enemy
- Tales of Marie Clarac
- White Cat's Revenge
Those are just the JNC novels with a female MC. There are many other good JNC titles but they are very different in themes and feeling from the 3 you listed.
For non-JNC titles three of my favorites with female MCs are:
- The Alchemist Who Survived
- FUNA's Abilities Average
- I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years

Hi guys, I'm new. As in, I became a member just to read Tearmoon Empire. :) I really like it so thanks to the translators and editors for working on it.
When I started reading I thought Sion was the male lead but it seems he's not, which is good.
Uh, question: Now that I am done reading this, what else can I read in J Novel that is similar?
I've already read Bakarina.
Thank you in advance.
-
@marya I haven't read a lot of our other Heart titles yet, but Can Someone Please Explain was a lot of fun, and I've heard that White Cat's Revenge is very well-regarded.

Oh, I'll try that one out. I think I've read the manga of White Cat. Thank you.
-
@Clarabelle This is a good list to start reading from.
Have you read bookworm? What's your rating of bookworm? -
@crowdcontrol Yes, I have read Ascendance of a Bookworm, I buy every premium ebook of it.^^ My rating would be 10/10 for it.
@marya I can recommend you:
- Apparently it‘s My Fault Tat My Husband Has The Head of a Beast
- Bibliophile Princess
- Deathbound Duke‘s Daughter (Similar to Bakarina, but much more exiting)
- The Tales of Marielle Clarac
- The White Cat's Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King's Lap
-
@marya check out I Refuse To Be Your Enemy it's similar and is fun.
-
@Clarabelle well if you read and liked
- Biblio P.
- Marielle
you would like
- Can Someone Please Explain What’s Going On?!
The prince is not fine in that series but our young lady is my favorite in those 3 series.
Edit: as for rating with those 3
Marielle > Whats going on > Biblio P would be my raiting.
