Hang in there with April 2020 Catchups!
-
In these times of uncertainty, we hope these catchup series will take your mind off things for at least a little while!
A couple of our series have anime airing this season! Continue following the adventures of Myne, a sickly reincarnated girl who just wants to read books, and read along with a new season of Ascendance of a Bookworm! Then, learn to love the lovable idiot Katarina as she tries to avoid certain death in My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! All our books in these series are available for members if you can't wait for new episodes and need to know what happens next ;)
We're caught up with Japan now, so catch up yourself with How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord! The hit anime adapted this story about a socially inept video gamer who gets summoned as his MMO character by two beautiful girls. Unable to interact with people normally, he must roleplay as his character, a Demon Lord... making things quite awkward with his growing group of female allies!
Then we have two more series: Record of Wortenia War, about a boy magicked away to a place where he finds his unusual upbringing is strangely suited to surviving this new world of war and cutthroat politics; and There Was No Secret Evil-Fighting Organization (srsly?!), So I Made One MYSELF!, about a boy who develops supernatural powers and finds his expectations are for naught when nothing else interesting happens!
We hope everyone stays safe and healthy, and can pass the time leisurely with all these books!

@myskaros Hi! I'm a new member so I'm sorry if this is not really the right place to be asking this, however I'm impatient for an answer and just didn't know where else I should post my questions to... I've spent money supporting quite a few sites/scanlators/translators before that ended up going on hiatus or discontinuing the series I followed before so I figured I should ask this question before deciding again to pay for membership or not... I understand that sometimes stuff happens which leads to people having to go on hiatus or discontinue a series, but I'd like to know what you guys' completion rates are for the series you guys pick up? More specifically, I would like to know if you guys intend to do the translation for Ascendance of a Bookworm all the way until the end (I believe there are over 600+ chapters), because this and The Second Coming of Gluttony (Korean LN, I'm not sure if you guys have this one, haven't check yet cuz I've been reading some of it on another site already) are the 2 series I've been looking all over trying to find a decent English translations for. If you guys intend to finish Ascendance of a Bookworm I'd love to show my support by becoming a paid member. I've also already purchased the series from Amazon Kindle, but I'm just so addicted and impatient for updates that I couldn't wait for the Kindle releases so if possible please let me know when you guys usually have updates/pre-pub for this series as well! Thank you!

Welcome to J-Novel Club!
Currently J-Novel Club has never dropped any series for bad sales or even when translation team changes happen.
The sole drop was New Life+ but that had nothing to do with sales or anything that can be considered “ordinary”.
J-Novel Club will finish all of Bookworm, the translator @quof talks about it all the time, and is working hard with the new editor @kier and the rest of the J-Novel Club publishing team to get it out as fast as possible.
Here is his most recent mention of it.

As for Bookworms release schedule:
After a volume releases its last part there is typically a 1-2 week break* before the following volume releases its first part. For Bookworm in particular they are attempting to do it with no break. Please note that does not automatically mean it will be out the following week after a volume finishes.
For all those wondering why it is not in the schedule yet, the schedule is updated after the first part of a new volume is released, usually it won’t show part 1 of a new volume until the day of release. So when they are ready with part 1 and the English cover has been set they just plop part 1 into the schedule the same day of release.
*the 1-2 week break is not a hard rule, it is just an observation based on the history of JNC prepub releases.
However now that they are switching to 8 parts instead of 10, we will all have to see if they continue with no break or add a week break.
-
The only series to have been indefinitely stalled on J-Novel Club is “My Little Sister can Read Kanji,” but such a situation is unlikely to ever happen again.
-
@LegitPancake You wouldn't put "Me, a Genius?" into that category?
-
@SomeOldGuy I think Pancake is referencing more in part to series J-NC can totally finish but haven't.

@Rahul-Balaggan 🙇♀️ Thank you very much for the info! I was honestly not expecting any staff to reply so fast due to many past experiences on other sites of not getting a reply at all... Why didn't I find you guys sooner? It would've saved me a lot of heartache. 😭 I look forward to reading you guys' updates on Ascendance of a Bookworm and hopefully I'll find more LN to read on here while I'm waiting. Knowing that the series I read here won't be dropped easily really make me wanna find all kinds of stuff to read now.😘 ❤ Thank you again!

Either way, glad you are here now!
If you have any other questions feel free to open a topic, or message me directly.
Happy reading!

@elaineleung1990 Hey there! Bookworm editor here. Just in case you wanted even more reassurance, I can tell you first-hand that Quof and I are dead set on seeing the entire series through—we're so eager in fact that, as Rahul mentioned, we're currently working at 8 parts per volume (rather than the usual 10 of a series this chunky) and omitting the end-of-volume break week entirely. We're fast approaching Part 3 in the series, and given how many volumes there are you can expect at least a good few years of regular Bookworm content alone. Hope you'll stick around! 😊
-
@elaineleung1990 I understand you. Did my registration yesterday just for bookworm.
As I have no source and just no japanese language knowledge I was happy to read that a lot is coming for us fans.
Do you know arround how many books this will be (a estimate will be good), as I die for information. Last cliffhanger was quite unsettling.
And where do you get your knowledge from. Do you have a good site to rely on or are you able to read in japanese?
Thanks for an answer. And thanks for the joy reading your comment.
Please excuse my bad grammar and so on. I'm not native english so you know... But i buy my light novels for kindle also. And I think it will stay this way. It does not look like any german version is in sight. Not even a site with more information on the light novels. At least i enjoy the english version and ist feels like they do a great job here with the translation. Not that i am a reliable source...
But you feel they are doing there all into it.Please continue your good Jobs everyone.
A kind of fan that ist between highest joy and deep depression every release. (Since it ends just to fast).

As I am a member from Today only, is there a general bookworm Board or a Link for discussions or so. of i need the Premium membership im willing to change my subscription.
-
@TheNovize A convenient general tip is that each of the volume parts on the main site (where you would click "read now") has a "forum" link that takes you to the discussion for that specific volume.
But specifically, yes, there is a Bookworm subforum. Regular membership should get you there.
-
Welcome to J-Novel Club!
We have a dedicated sub-forum for Bookworm discussions, feel free to join in the conversations there.
https://forums.j-novel.club/category/17/ascendance-of-a-bookworm
You do not have to be a premium member to access any Bookworm related content.
looks like @hatguy12 beat me to it.
we do also have a general discussion topic - https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/2652/ascendance-of-a-bookworm-general-discussion
and an anime topic - https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/2140/ascendance-of-a-bookworm-anime-discussion?page=1

@TheNovize said in Hang in there with April 2020 Catchups!:
Do you know arround how many books this will be (a estimate will be good), as I die for information. Last cliffhanger was quite unsettling.
There are currently 22 books released in Japan, they just started printing Part 5; we're currently on book 7, which is Part 2 Volume 4.
-
Yeay. Thanks for the quick help. Than we can expect a lot more of Mynes adventures.
Glad to hear that. After Overlord shall end earlier, because the author is so fed up this ist a relief. Now it ist only my second most wanted LN.
Over 22. Guys hang in there. May u be blessed with health (or something that at least let you stay at home and enjoy your translation magic. Evil Laugh)
One More:
I didn't find a Part 2 Volume 4 discussion. Will that start later or is that part of the Premium? I like to see how all are raking there brains how it might go on. Like they do in the Volume 3 thread. -
Here is the discussion for Part 2 Volume 4:
https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/3118/bookworm-part-2-vol-4-discussion?page=1
If you check the sub-forum I linked earlier it is pinned to the top.
Also all volume discussions will be available for all members not never just premium.

@1000dred There are much more novels you probably like here.
If you like Bakarina, you could read Deathbound Duke‘s Daughter next. The only difference is, that the protagonist isn’t dumb, there is no big time skip and that the story is a lot about alchemy, magic, magical beasts and mystic and eerie incidents.
Then, if you like shoujo novels in general, I could also recommend Apparently it’s My Fault That My Husband Has The Head of a Beast, Tearmoon Empire, The White Cat‘s Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon Kings Lap, Bibliophile Princess and The Tales of Marielle Clarac.
Why don‘t you try reading them?😊
You could also vote for novels you like to see getting licensed in the “Licensing Suggestions!“ sub forum, or make a thread yourself.
