Any Food Related Light Novels?
-
@Sam-Pinansky I am going to contain myself and only become 25% more excited about J-Novel Club potentially licensing a Food Related Light Novel.
That's about all my heart can take.

Ever since Toriko, I've had sweet and tasteful cravings for food stories.
No sour feelings, if you can't find any.
You bitter find something to eat or you will be pretty clam hungry.
You doughnut understand these juicy puns, so you butter stop.
Son of a bisque, now I need to order some food. -
So I am reviving this thread why you ask...because BookWalker Global had just licensed a Food Related Light Novel from HJ Bunko
Press ReleaseAnd funny enough it was one of the novels mentioned by @Paulo27
I wonder if BookWalker is handling translation or if they are outsourcing it?Edit: Looks like BookWalker is funding the translation and leaving the Novel translation and rights to the publisher...wonder who the publisher is cough cough.
Snippet from the press release:
Although the translation costs for these light novels will be fully funded by BookWalker, the English language translation rights will belong to the original publisher.
Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

Isekai Izakaya Nobu is really good. Reading the WN always makes me crave for those japanese foods. This series already have a manga so I'm sure it already have an LN, waiting to be picked up.

@Rahul-Balaggan I thought about you when I saw this announcement!

Combat Baker and His Automaton Waitress is out on Bookwalker. First 3 chapters are up for free preview too I think.
Here's a Goodreads link for discussions / reviews when those pop up.

@Terrence is Vending Machine really food related though?

...we shall see. 😂
I'm guessing we'll see lots of jokes about reaching in the machine's slot to get items. It'd be cool if the food produced by it were consumables like health items / powerups from video games.
Ew, Hershey's bar, I'd rather have rare candy from Pokemon.
-
What really amuses me is that it has a romance tag on Novelupdates. So... tell me, how does a vending machine have sex?
-
@Hakomari Very loudly, I suppose.

This is a road you don't want to go down (I'm imagining some suggestive food items in this vending machine now). =P
"Never doubt, it's the road to ruin" - Shell Septinos, Mardock Scramble.

I got a pretty cool clear file folder for the Combat Baker at the BookWalker booth at AX. They also gave out a $10 credit so I picked it up and the latest Shield Hero manga while I was at it!
My girlfriend got one of the folders too but isn't really into it. If anyone wants to pay postage and packaging within continental US I'd be happy to send it to someone here.

@the-green-death I read the 3 chapter preview and I'm not sure it counts as a food novel though. The amount of cooking in it or bread descriptions was kind of minimal really.

New Bookwalker license announcement tomorrow. Will it be food related? Isekai Shokudo / Restaurant To Another World is an anime now, so that could be good to license. Let's wait and see. 🍕🍝

@Terrence I kinda hope not I really want that series but I would prefer JNC picking it up for speedy Translations and also DRM free downloads.
-
Whelp, no food, but it's a Shogi focused novel, Ryou No Oshigoto. ☖☗⛉⛊

I am a librarian, lol. So no wonder I seem that way. =P
I love looking through Bookwalker JP to find stuff. They've got some really neat resources there, like the recommended tabs and "what others bought" tabs below the book you're looking at, so you can find some really out there stuff. =]
