Books/Preorders missing from Amazon
-
@BartzBB
That seems silly, but what the hell do I know, beyond Amazon completely losing the plot and arbitrarily removing LN and telling no one why. -
@catstorm Potions both novel and manga were removed worldwide (minus Japan) from Amazon digitally, so that's not an Australia-only thing. (Although oddly enough Potions manga still sold on Amazon-owned Comixology).
-
So from my investigation (Lol very official), I have discovered that any LN released on Amazon Australia before the 1st of August 2020 has the ability to purchase physical volumes and EVERY LN volume released after this date only allows for digital kindle purchases.
This was an action taken by Amazon Australia at some point after the 11th of August as I was able to purchase those physical volumes on that date.
This has affected manga physicals as well, it appears to be a conscious effort to remove the ability of Australians to purchase physical LNs and manga on Amazon, this is not a directive from the government as every physical volume removed from Amazon is still available on Book Depository at significantly higher prices.

If this goes on, there will be no manga and light novel available at all on amazon worldwide and for many there is no other choice than this site to get their hands on english releases... I was looking forward to the english release of a korean romance novel next year, but if it's like this, it probably will get banned because ''a stepmother adores her stepchild'' (if I even can't get a physical copy anymore, then...)... Just where should I buy english light novels in the future?!
Well, I probably shouldn’t lose hope so fast. It’s not like Germany is the same as the United States or Australia. -

good question- I was thinking the same thing. A quick google search found a couple alternate ebook outlets (ebooks.com, smashwords) in addition to the one's I was already familiar with (Kobo, BN, google, apple) maybe this fiasco will lead to a resurgence of smaller outlets ? I can say with certainty that all my JNC purchases will be via JNC native store...I'll purchase via amazon only if I can't get a title anywhere else. I wonder if JNC is interested in expanding their offerings? Partnerships with a few other smaller publishers (i.e. Meteor Strike when/if they have epubs ready to sell, Tentai, or Seven Seas )??
-
Some volumes of Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs have now been completely delisted by Amazon.
-
@Jon-Mitchell So far I’m only buying my light novels as premium ebooks from J-Novel Club. I had considered buying light novels for kindle from other publishers too, but with the situation currently like this, I will put it on ice for now.
There are some other sites where you can buy your ebooks, that is true, but as long as there is no title I really want from another publisher than J-Novel Club, I won’t look for it.
That said, I‘ve looked through the german amazon and besides the digital version, for many ”banned” series you can still buy the printed version, though I don’t know how long it will stay like this.
But I have the feeling, that the amazon of the United States and Australia are especially hard in their decision which books to ban. It also looks like it are mostly light novels oriented towards male readers (so far I only know of two light novels oriented towards female readers), that got banned. It’s really weird... -
Arifureta 7-10 and Seirei Gensouki 5 are gone it looks like, as well as every volume of Summon a Demon Lord, even the re-uploaded ones with images in the back.
Every volume of Infinite Stratos and Lazy Dungeon Master has also been nuked on amazon. -
@LegitPancake Putting the images in the back of How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord does not fix the covers.
-
I really wish that we knew why this was happening, its one thing to take the book off the site but Amazon won't even say why.
What makes it even odder is that the manga version and the physical version of many series are still available.
-
It's just really sad, this is the golden age for Japanese media in the west and it looks like its going to be short lived due to one company being arseholes.
-
@catstorm While this is a bad situation I don't think this will kill it. So far for whatever reason only the digital versions have been taken off the site so you can still buy physical for a lot of releases. Not to mention all the anime you can watch that has nothing to do with Amazon.
On another note I'm sure there are people working behind the scenes trying to figure out why this is happening and I'm hopeful that they will eventually figure it out.
-
We recently had to take some drastic action for reasons I won't go into at this time. For now we have delisted some series.
This only affects amazon.
-
Are you at liberty to say which series are affected? (Beyond how not to summon, if any)
-
Kindle release for An Archdemon's Dilemma volume 10 seems to be down when I check via Amazon US on Chrome incognito mode.
Series page:
Physical is still listed.
Also Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! volumes 1-2
Series page:
Not sure if this is part of the drastic action Sam mentioned a couple of days ago.
-
From your screenshot of the physical entry it looks like Elf Bride series has the wrong title on Amazon. It still contains the word
Slave
which was removed almost immediately from volume 1 prepubs... -

Slave
which was removed almost immediately from volume 1 prepubs...It looks like the 'series' for the physical entries still has the old title with slave in the name on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/bookseries/B07HFFQKH1/
While the 'series' for the kindle release uses the corrected name: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HJY59JX

Hello im new hear and just been keeping tabs on this issue. I just wanted to know if we can get a list of series that has been d listed from amazon and what this means going forword for those of us on kindle. I have very limited funds and sadly can not afford to pay a jnovel membership once a month to be able to buy books directly from jnovel. I allso have no idea how to sideload these books to my kindle ereader. My pc is ancient and has trouble doing the most random of tasks so i dont know if sideloading is even a option for me. Sorry for the long post i just have alot of built up concern over this as im kinda stuck in kindles ecosystem at this point

@Swiftnissity @Terabyte
Well, its seems the page for Archdemon volume 10 has disappeared completely, just in case it was because of region I checked amazon US in incognito and the only thing now the amazon page for it says is 'Sorry, we couldn't find that page', and the series listing on amazon is only volumes 1 to 9, while google cache still shows 1 to 10. -

Hmmm, drastic measures @Sam-Pinansky ... doesn't sound nice. Knowing you we will hear the details later on.
