Books/Preorders missing from Amazon
-
@saskir German Amazon is known for banning LDM long before the rest of amazon did, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's a regional thing. But as far as we know, KDP has not banned volume 1 yet (which usually results in worldwide removal except for in Japan).
-
@Village-Idiot That is my question. For Magicmaster they are for Premium Ebooks already, I wonder what is the plan there.
-
- For books that have been affected by the Amazon situation, we are converting them all to "color images in the back" before reuploading.
- For series that are longer than ~6 volumes, we're making a separate "Amazon version" with the color images in the back. Buying it on Kindle will have color images in the back, but premium/other webstores will be in the front.
- For all ongoing, unaffected series, color images will remain in the front for the rest of the series.
- For new series that haven't had volume 1 release yet and all future new series, color images will now be in the back instead.
-
@myskaros
No offense to JNC but this feels like Amazon came out on top regarding this issue.I'm not complaining or anything but just sharing what is my reaction to the solution to the current problem.
It feels just like Amazon just created the new standard for an LN E-Book where the color illustrations are now at the back.- For new series that haven't had volume 1 release yet and all future new series, color images will now be in the back instead.
From my understanding with this statement, this means that all future LN E-Books will now have the color illustration at the back in all platforms and only the series that had already published volume 1 would have an Amazon Version exclusive to Amazon and the other platforms would still use the Original Version.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. We are a business, and Amazon provides a very significant chunk of revenue. We can't afford to fight Amazon and risk being kicked off altogether, all we can do is skirt the issue and try not to keep getting our books removed. If moving images to the back accomplishes that, it's a small price to pay compared to going out of business.
-
@myskaros
That's not what I meant.
I was just saying that since the only way for Amazon to accept the volumes again was for the illustration to be placed at the back, now it looks like this new format that Amazon accepts would be the norm for all future e-books, which in my opinion sucks because the original Japanese e-books still has the illustrations at the front in Amazon JP.PS: This whole issue doesn't really affect me personally since I buy the Premiums and I always reformat the e-books that I buy to my desired format. For those who are curious I read all my LNs via images. This is so I could use the same reader that I use in my PC when reading manga. Although this means that the font style and size can't be changed it's still okay since I set them to my preference before turning them into images.

You're jumping ahead a bit too much. This is a conclusion JNC reached based on internal discussion, for the reasons stated in my previous post; Amazon did not make any demands regarding what they will/will not accept.

How annoying
In my opinion, considering Amazon is taking 30% commission they should at least share the 'ticket' that lead to the take downs. (even if they feel they need to scrub the tickets to remove identities of who filed the complaints, there should be an indication of what policy/category/error whatever caused the 'infraction')Amazon created a marketplace, they take a commission and regulate their marketplace. And those being penalized deserve to at least to know why

This is why monopolies are bad, mmk.

@myskaros
It's true that Amazon didn't demand anything.
It's also true that they accepted the new format.And because of that it's understandable why JNC decided to just place all future color illustration at the back just to ensure this issue never happens again. I also understand that it would be troublesome to make a separate Amazon only version with the illustration at the back.
I just feel unsatisfied that the format would differ to what is on Amazon JP, which is considered to be the norm for all LNs. And also the fact that the norm will be changed to suit Amazon's standards. In short I just hate this double standards that what's okay in Amazon JP is not okay in Amazon, even though all of them are suppose to follow the same standards.
-
@BartzBB Different countries have different laws. See what's happening in Australia, for example.
-
@myskaros
It's just hard for me to accept.Probably because I've never been outside my own country that my expectations on the rules and standards of an international company should be the same wherever that company is. It's like how clothing brands would have the same quality product no matter where in the world they are being sold and expecting that only the price would differ due to tax.
So my naive expectations are that if Amazon ever change their standards because of the law or culture of a certain country they would apply it to all their branches around the world just to be consistent so that no feelings of dissatisfaction or unfairness would arise.
-
@BartzBB It is essentially impossible to have both a wide variety of available products and NOT run afoul of SOME country's laws, so trying to be uniform across the world isn't viable. You can't sell non-OEM car parts in some countries, for example.
Many would view it as "CountryX is forcing their laws/morals down our throats, as if they own the whole world!"

Just to clarify, since this point didn’t mention a “separate Amazon version,” volumes under this category will have color images in the back on all platforms? Does that include JNC’s premium epubs, or are those unaffected?
-
there's a whole other thread on the speculations of "why"
-
we don't know if this is a regulatory/legal/moral issue, or a customer complaint issue, or something else
-
we don't know if the same issue/problem (whatever it is) applies to all of the titles taken down
-
we don't know if moving the illustrations to the back is a fix or not
at this point, my fingers are crossed. I don't use the Kindle platform extensively, so it isn't for my convenience that I want this resolved, I want JNC to be successful (so that more of the stuff I like to read gets published)

Meaning, if I want the images in front, I'll have to edit the premium epubs myself... grreeeaaaattttt...
I honestly hate Amazon right now. -

I honestly hate Amazon right now.Yes, this includes JNC premiums. I should mention that we've actually received feedback from customers requesting this change anyway, since you can't really flip past digital pages the way you can with physical books and the color images frequently spoil events in the book.
-
Since it has been brought up I would like to remind everyone that there is a topic open for speculation on why users believe amazon is removing content. So if you would like to contribute to that topic please post accordingly.
Thank you.
-
Eh, at least the color illustrations are still there. I can live with tapping a few hyperlinks if I want to see them before reading the book.
Question: will this affect physical books, too?
-
@myskaros True I've seen this as well, but I think its by a vocal minority.
Either way the particular change doesn't bother me, either will use chapter nav or move them myself.
