Books/Preorders missing from Amazon

@jpwong your book purchases from Google Books will auto update, which is a definite plus.
I've seen them update series multiple times. For example, all their titles used to be just the name of the book.
Ie: Sword Art Online
For every single volume, so the app sorts it in last read order and is a complete mess.
Note at least they're named correctly by volume number, but they still messed up some titles where the names of the individual volumes are slightly different than the others.
I don't know how this is so hard.

App is bad, but if you do it through the web site you can shelve you books however you want including the epubs you upload to the site yourself (doesn't translate into anything in the app unfortunately though).
The shelves are accessible in the tablet versions of the app, but as you said they aren't implemented into the mobile versions.

With all the negativ reports something a little fun (atleast in my eyes). The artist for LDM made a "new" cover for it. Here is the link: Click me
Seems he noticed all this removing hubris.

For new series that haven't had volume 1 release yet and all future new series, color images will now be in the back instead.
So question, how will premium editions where the bonus is HQ images be handled? Does it make sense to have the regular versions of the images followed immediately by the same images in high quality at the end of the book? Will the premium editions simply forgo the standard quality illustrations in favour of the high quality ones so that the images won't repeat like that?
-
@jpwong Interesting question; we haven't thought about it. Just from a consistency standpoint, it's more trouble to remove them, so they'd probably just have both versions. However, high-res illustrations are a pretty rare bonus, so I'm not sure when it would ever come up.

Usually the Bonus HQ images are textless and the normal ones are with text. Although I don't know every premium edition. But I am thinking about LDM etc.
-
@myskaros What about the series Altina the Sword Princess? All the bonuses are very high resolution pictures and all the high resolution pictures have text on them. The previous volumes had the standard quality ones at the front and the high resolution ones in the back. How will this be handled? I like the high resolution ones and don't want to be lose them as they are the only bonus for that series.

- For books that have been affected by the Amazon situation, we are converting them all to "color images in the back" before reuploading.
- For series that are longer than ~6 volumes, we're making a separate "Amazon version" with the color images in the back. Buying it on Kindle will have color images in the back, but premium/other webstores will be in the front.
- For all ongoing, unaffected series, color images will remain in the front for the rest of the series.
- For new series that haven't had volume 1 release yet and all future new series, color images will now be in the back instead.
Basically, the only series that are being changed are the ones that have been getting taken down from Amazon and new series.
-
@morbelek if they decide to only use one picture you could bet that they use the HQ one in the premium version.

Yeah, I only thought of it when I was looking through the newest bookworm epub (which I know isn't actually affected by this at all) and was just thinking that the images in the front of the book were textless and the bonus is HQ versions of the same textless images as far as I can see. Since I don't know what the Japanese vendor bonus situation is like, I was thinking it could happen down the road and it might look weird for some readers since depending on the reader you use, it literally just looks like the same images rather than a regular quality and a high quality set.

Amazon is getting stupid now.
The manga for "Gal Gohan" and "My Monster Secret" have been removed from the Kindle store.
-
@Chubby-Penguin The light novel for High School DxD has also been removed.
-
I'm pretty pissed.
If every single volume of My Monster Secret can disappear without warning, then basically nothing on Kindle is safe.
Unless you can afford to get an entire series at once, it's not a viable source to get your manga and light novels anymore.
-
@Chubby-Penguin hear hear! I gave up on Amazon when this first started and they refused to tell J-novel.club what was the specific reason for pulling certain titles. If they're going to be that arbitrary then I refuse to buy anything from them (unless I absolutely need to and absolutely cannot get it anywhere else, and even then I'm not sure). Fortunately I have other options for my light novel and manga needs, but I send out my sympathy for those for whom it was basically the only viable option.

Gal Gohan I may somehow bend myself to understand, but why the heck My Monster Secret?

Amazon Australia has just stealthily removed the ability of Australians to purchase physical copies of many light novels.
For instance on August 11th i purchased reincarnated as a sword volume 5 as a physical copy i haven't received it yet but its been posted so i should still get it, however now that option is no longer available, you can only purchase the digital copy the physical has been removed from the Australian website.
edit- this has affected J Novel club titles, "I shall Survive using potions" has also been removed from the Australian Amazon, both physical and digital.
-
@catstorm
That's some next level shit going on there in Australia. -
@catstorm Just wondering, could there be any other reason for that, like shipping issues? Since buying stuff from overseas has been a pain ever since we've got the 'rona.
-
@nofairytale
I can’t imagine why they would need to remove the digital version of Potions if it was purely a distribution problem and there are still a multitude of other physical LNs available.For instance if I wanted to purchase the latest volume of Mushoku Tensei I can do that right now but not the latest version of reincarnated sword which is released at almost the same time from the same company.
Smartphone 11 physical volume has also been removed but the latest For my daughter is still available.
It’s just weird, I can’t think of a more innocuous series than Potions, why of all series would that receiver a ban.

@catstorm
Maybe because someone read found out that the other name for it is Potion Loli and they immediately decided it's child pornography without reading the content.
