On Ipad mini - both manga and LN reader links are going to 404 for me. This happens for both safari and firefox. I also tried logging out and logging back in, and private mode for both browsers. I also tried requesting desktop site (not private) with the same result. The same links on desktop (firefox on windows) seem fine.
I load the home page and click on any of the catchup titles LN and manga, and tap "read now" and any of the parts. Every title I've tried lead to https://j-novel.club/404 .
I next tried the "titles" tab and scrolled through the list and randomly picked anything with the same 404 result as above.

I haven't read all posts, so I don't know if someone else already complained about it, but for me it looks a lot harder to find the latest parts released, and unless I check the "ad" for new titles (which I never did), I can't see what new titles are being released, while before I could just start a new series on a whim if I saw the first volume was still available.
Also what does following a title means? I had expected to at least be able to use it find the available parts for what I'm following, but the page remains empty. To put it in fewer words, the new design outright sucks.

If you go to Calendar, you can filter by followed series only: https://j-novel.club/calendar?restrict=followed&rel=subscription

I’m also getting 404 errors when trying to read parts on my iPad in Safari😞
-
I like the new Reader but is there a way to increase the Font Size?
-
@Nosgoroth @LegitPancake @MasterLillyclaw @yzh4rjdzob6 @Darksongwind The 404 issue on Safari has been fixed, please try now and let us know if it still doesn't work.
-
@BartzBB As mentioned in the list of issue, this will be added soon, as well as font style and other features
-
@chocolatkey The page itself “loads” (it goes to the proper link instead of just a 404 page), but the actual reader isn’t loading any text. Just infinitely loading grey screen - both when I use WiFi and when I use my data plan (as my WiFi is rather poor).
EDIT: Actually, all the manga are loading just fine for me, it seems to be solely the novels that are infinitely loading.
-
@chocolatkey All the LN and manga links I tried works in safari and firefox. Thank you
-
@chocolatkey The novels reader isn’t properly loading as someone said before me. I can’t post screencaps but it’s just grey, showing that it’s loading but never actually ends even after a couple of mins waiting.
Edit: Aight, since my comments are completely ignored, I think I’m just gonna stick with the old reader eh. Then just unsubscribe and wait for the ebooks.
-
@MasterLillyclaw Same. I suspect it's because the new reader uses Blob.text(), which isn't supported by my version of Watefox Classic... According to MDN it's not supported in Safari either, but maybe the data's out of date if it worked for yzh4rjdzob6?
-
I haven't really used much the beta site, but I see there's still no "coming soon/upcoming parts" space on the homepage. Rather I find that huge "Our Latest Titles" space pretty useless. It forces me to always scroll down to see anything else on it... The old homepage shows much more info compared to it. 😕
-
@MasterLillyclaw couod you post the version of your OS and the model of your device?
-
Hmm, where do I find the RSS link for my followed series? Can't find any icon or link even looking at the source code of the pages.

@chocolatkey I've noticed a problem with the new reader for the site. I was looking at volume 6, part 4 of Slayers and noticed that in 2-page view, I was unable to access the last page of the part by clicking and using the reading arrows. https://imgur.com/bGTyfIR. If I manually use the slide bar, I am able to get to the last page. https://imgur.com/iPldsNk. Also if I use the single page view mode, I am able to access the last page using the reading arrows. https://imgur.com/RfcwhEh. In Chrome I seem to the get the same issue, but this time it lets me see the last page (notice that the slider isn't at the very end). https://imgur.com/iDAHRYv. Pushing the slider to the very end on Chrome shows a "blue" page. https://imgur.com/tJhPoi4
I am on Windows 10 Home version 2004 OS build 19041.804. I am using the Firefox browser version 85.0.2 (64-bit) and Chrome Version 88.0.4324.150 (Official Build) (64-bit). My monitor is in landscape view at 1920 x 1080.

@chocolatkey As I said earlier, it’s iPhone SE, software version is 13.7. I’m using the Safari app.
-
@Gamen @MasterLillyclaw I have an iPhone 8 with iOS 14.4, and Safari loads both light novel and manga parts fine.
-
On MacBook Pro (2015), OS 10.15.7 Catalina, using Safari (v. 14.0.3) or Chrome (v. 88.0.4324.150), trying to click the Series Info button at the end of the Welcome To Japan, Ms. Elf manga leads to https://j-novel.club/s/welcome-to-japan-ms-elf-manga , which turns into a 404 page. I think the manga endpages need to be updated to the new address.
-
I was quite surprised by the rework of the website; it would have been nice to have expected the change. That said, I think the new layout is, overall, superior than the previous.
Likes:
- Dark theme for both site and reader
** I have yet to check if it works for all novels - I like the ability to filter compared to previous
- The User library is much more user friendly
** The folding of related titles is a definite boon - The calendar is filterable by "followed titles", type of title, and type of publication
Wants:
- Ability to browse titles by tag or genres
- Ability to browse library by tag or genres (sometimes I want to reread a romance, sometimes an isekai, but want to browse)
- Ability to have a "tiled version" of both the titles and libraries view that has a sample cover picture (I like bells and whistles, and sometimes I choose by image)
- Ability to also filter the calendar by titles, tags, and genres
- Ability to associate a drop box, google drive, etc in which to automatically copy new releases (my reader app automatically syncs with such things, yes, I'm greedy like that)
- Ability to link searches and views such as library to a RSS or JSON feed (technically the JSON seems to already be there, since the page loads dynamically, but that doesn't help with general consumers since they would need an user context such as a user key to provide to get the correct version, and no idea if y'all have the capacity for repeatedly hitting consumers)
At any rate, keep up the good work.
