New Website Feedback
-
the users section of the site says my user type is regular
-
@Tiko424 yeah it's the same for mine
-
@catstorm It was mentioned fairly early on in this thread, so it's not a new problem. I expect that it shows everyone as a regular member and that it has done so since the beginning. Regardless, it obviously needs to be fixed at some point.

Similar to my recent suggestion for the beta app, I think that the website could show progress in reading individual parts in a manner similar to the unofficial JNC reader by @Crimson-Wise.
-
@Shiny I actually don't think my interface works that well on a desktop browser; it has quite a lot of elements which is fine for mobile devices, but can get quite heavy on the browser depending on your screen size and machine. Still, I don't mind if it's used as inspiration or something.
I'm just happy that the website and specially the app are getting reworked (and so far, the betas are quite more usable than the old ones.)

I think the User page needs an "Account History" page. I'm not sure if you're already tracking the data in the background and just don't show it, but basically a history going back at least 12 months, showing:
- When you bought credits, how many and for how much
- When a free premium credit was applied to your account
- When you were charged for your subscription
- When you bought a book with a credit
In addition, the ability to export your history as a CSV, so that we can keep archives of our own data.
-
Is there an option to mark a series as read or keeping track of progress? I looked and it seems to only mark if you've bought the book or not. That doesn't seem very helpful as we could have bought the book elsewhere or we could have just read the pre-pub but didn't feel interested in buying the full volume later. We need a way to mark specific pre-pub parts as read. This is by far the biggest missing feature from the old site that I presumed would be added by the new site, otherwise there's not much point in the rewrite.

Hello, I have been trying to use the
https://labs.j-novel.club/feed/user/<USER ID>.<rss|atom|json>
with
https://labs.j-novel.club/feed/user/manusdei.rss
https://labs.j-novel.club/feed/user/ManusDei.rss
https://labs.j-novel.club/feed/user/@ManusDei.rss
https://labs.j-novel.club/feed/user/@manusdei.rssto use my "own" rss feed. It doesn't work, what did I do wrong and how to I get my id ?
Adding on the todo list a way to access prepub on kindle or another e-ink reader would be great :)
Still, the beta website is much more user friendly than the original one, great work there
-
@ManusDei Your user ID is a random hex character string, which you can find using your browser's developer tools:
You can also find it in the new app beta, in your profile, under "Debug Info". If you still cannot find it, send us an email and we can give it to you.
-
Found it in the page source, thanks :)

I just looked at this beta for the first time and I looked around. I think it is much better than the current website so far (but I didn't try to read any parts on it so I don't know if I like that more or not.)
One suggestion for possible filters on your titles page. I would like a filter that allows me to see what series has books I haven't bought the premium version of yet. This filter will be nice for those who own a lot of your series.
-
On the new beta site the calander show the one your following is blank for me.
I'm using Safari on Catalina.
-
I don't think this has been reported yet.
It seems timezone of the browser is not being detected. Currently Bookworm is listed for release on Tuesday in the calendar. I assume that is according to its UTC release time and not my EDT (Mon 7pm) release time.
-
@chocolatkey The beta site has a new page for purchasing credits that I hadn't noticed before, but it isn't showing the cyber monday deal. Maybe consider re-enabling the redirect to the old site for the duration of the sale.
-
@Nosgoroth If you use the beta site to buy credits, it will be at the sale price. Just tried it with 1 credit. I've noticed this before, when the beta site showed premium members as regular, it would say $7/credit on the site, but you would only be charged $6 in the end. No one needs to trust me though...just use the old site for now.
Either way the price text probably needs to get set as a variable or something instead of the fixed values.
-
Not a big deal but these may need to be deleted.
-
In the old site the time in the Release Page and the side bar is based from the local time.
But in the Beta Site the calendar is based from the Server Time.
I don't know if this is meant to be like this or not but it would be good if it would still use the local time so users won't need to compute for the time of release.

Is downloading epubs in the beta website supported yet? All I get is an error message
{"error":{"name":"TypeError","status":500,"message":"Cannot read property 'userId' of null"}}
-
@LegitPancake
It's supported already. I've tried downlading in the Beta Site before and it worked. -
@LegitPancake the download problem has been fixed
