Regarding missing/modified titles from Amazon
-
@caerold Unfortunately, when we say "fixed" we just mean it has been reposted on Amazon. But that requires us to post it as a new listing, we are unable to access the banned listings at all. Assuming that is the one that you purchased, you would have to contact Amazon to see if you can transfer your purchase to the new listing.

@myskaros Had to get Amazon to refund PotionLoli 1-3 and Altina 1 since they were no longer available -- will end up using credits to repurchase here rather than return the money to Amazon
Lots of other store links were broken (about 30 I'd purchased) but the content could still be downloaded
-
@caerold Glad to hear you were able to get refunded! We're sorry for the inconvenience; we wish they hadn't taken down our books, but we had no control over it either :(

I noticed that my copy of "The Apothecary Diaries: Volume 1 (Light Novel)" with the asin "B08P4ZFMCD" now comes up with a 404 page in a web browser and as "Currently Unavailable" when browsed on the Kindle itself, but it appears to have been replaced by "B0953NMHMW".
The only difference I could see between them is the addition of "(The Apothecary Diaries (Light Novel))" in the title. I purchased it on the 21st of February this year (2021), so I'm guessing it got taken down at some point then brough back under a asin? The only other ebook I've noticed it happen with is "Amagi Brilliant Park: Volume 1" which I bought back in September 2020 - the replacement also has a different asin.

nothing to do with j-novel club but seems like the vol 1/2 of high school dxd kindle editions isn;t listed now idk what up with that
-
@whyohwhy1 V1 Page 1, color illustration of a sleeping high school girl (Rias) dressed only in her red hair.
Missing volumes is why I'm getting HSDxD in carbon sequestering form, instead of digital.
-
@someoldguy yea but its weird they remove the kindle but not the paper back one
-
@whyohwhy1 Paper versions rarely have online preview, like the Kindle versions.
-
The weirder thing there is that v3 & 4 are back on kindle. I haven't looked but considering it is DxD I'm pretty confident they must each have at least one image worse than half the other series that have been removed over this.
Maybe Yen came to some agreement, like moving the images to the back the way JNC have, but if so I dont get why the first 2 aren't back. It's the same on Kobo, they're missing 1-3 but have 4 and a pre-order for 5. And I own vol1 from Kobo so it was there initially.
-
@thewickerman In the greater scheme of things, v1 and 2 have the "raciest" pictures, one in each volume (v2 has Rias getting groped), and really no nudity in v3 or 4.
But, it's Amazon, and they don't really tell anyone why they take things down. Much of what we "know" is simply supposition, based on common factors of books taken down, what changes got something re-listable, and what was taken down multiple times.
JNC seems to have come up with a "mostly working" way around it, but even that isn't foolproof.
-
Already mentioned this in Discord but for those who don't go there
Checked both Amazon US and JP and Volumes 1-4 for Otherside Picnic are currently not found or listed anymore
-
@harunachiep We took them down ourselves and will be relisting them through PublishDrive.
-
@myskaros ah ok, thanks for the heads-up on that

PublishDrive
I'm sorry asking a stupid question but I don't know what PublishLive is so does that mean that they won't be available in Amazon anymore?
-
@bartzbb PublishDrive is a third-party distributor. In simple terms, we pay them to manage our books across various online stores. It's a measure we adopted to combat the Amazon takedowns from last year, by having them as a breakwater between us and Amazon. Essentially, our ebooks are relisted under PublishDrive's account instead of our own personal (free self-publishing) KDP account, and they can help troubleshoot if/when there are any problems that arise with our books.
-
@myskaros
I see. Thank you for the explanation.I honestly thought JNC got fed up with Amazon and started removing their books for good.
-
@myskaros though I have a question for those who purchased the ebooks in Amazon before this move, will they still be able to redownload or keep it as is if ever?

Kind of like trade unions, sometimes you need that extra muscle... (We have a strong culture of trade unions here in the Nordic countries...)
-
@harunachiep You will still be able to download it from Amazon, but since you do not own the version currently being sold you won't be able to get updates to the ebook, if there are any. This is the same for any of the books Amazon took down and we had to relist.

Is this why Seirei volume 16 isn’t showing available? And under review?
