Seirei Gensouki Anime Announcement

I feel like there were a lot more off-model bits this episodes...
...13 hours until v20! ....too bad it's published during work.
-
The madlads actually went and did it! They rearranged the events of Volumes 4 and 5! The events of the Silver Bride arc is going to happen first before a certain someone makes her appearance.
-
@albertrojas My speculation on Discord was that they'll leave half an episode after finishing volume 5 to show
-
@myskaros It certainly adds a wtf moment for the anime only viewers.
On another note, Kitayama's really fond of changing this part of the story. I must say that doing it this way makes the story flow better, so props to the animation team for actually going through the changes.
-
Well, based on the degradation of the art style, look at the faces of the background wives during the "wives meeting" I am fairly confident this will not get a season 2.
The good from the penultimate, I would have to say adorableness of Celia in her full splendour whilst being the silver bride. Though it is a shame the animators did not take the time to fill embellish the wedding dress to the same standard as that from the novel. The colour inset in volume 5 is probably my favourite from the series and that is after 20 volumes. But next week is the last episode. And I. Hoping the remainder of the budget has been pumped into it.
-
@custodes Insuspect the entire budget for the show was 1000yen.
I think this is the first episode that matches up well to the story in the LN or manga. Tho in the LN the princess told Celia to escape if she has a chance.
-
That was quite a way to rush a cliffhanger. Myskaros got it right, except being just a couple of minutes.
Well, I think I'm fine with the adaptation. Rio seemed to show more emotions on the anime than the usual potato face/wry smile dichotomy of the light novels.
And always happy to have more Celia!
-
The last bit was, how should I put it, compact.
Various things were out of sequence from the LN in the Season 1 adaptation, but the sequence within the anime still made sense; it flowed logically.
It'd be nice if another season were to be approved, to see how they further develop things.
It's clear Reiss is a Bad Guy, but he's a much more interesting Bad Guy than Charles Arbor and such; there's more to him than your usual corruption setting in over generations of inherited power that explains the various Nobles.

It was also handled differently. I don't remember the slave traders getting killed in the novel, or is my memory playing a trick on me?

They did end up getting offed, since they wouldn't back down.
It was more clear that he cleaned up after the fight prior to releasing Mii-chan, so that she didn't see the bodies or vast splashes of blood.
Just a lack of anyone around actively opposing what Rio was doing. -

That was my recollection as well, but I didn't go back and verify it, which has to do with my somewhat ambiguous phrasing of "Just a lack of anyone around actively opposing what Rio was doing."

Compact is putting it lightly. I was all "so they're going to end on the first night" then boom! Pillars in the sky.
Which oddly was perhaps the best sequence for me. I dunno' but I actually felt "what the hell is happening" like the characters. Maybe it was the surprise because I was expecting a different ending? ...and then it truncated a chapter or two into like a 60 second montage :P
Also... little thing. The final 4koma. It's not "Haruto... I'm sorry, it's too early...". 「春人…ごはんまだ…? 」 is roughly "Haruto... is it mealtime yet?"
-
@gamen
The interesting thing about squoshing it all together the way they did at the end was that it worked. -
@weasalopes Yeah. That Aishia/Miharu overlap though....
-
I think they fit 2 novels in 5 minutes of the last episode. Also skipped a bunch of stuff and everything is out of order. That mental conversation took up 3/4 of the episode.
-
So if I wanted to make the jump to the LN now, where am I picking up from if I don't want to reread events that already happened?
I did a quick skim through the summaries, and while the plots seem kinda rearranged, for the most part I'm looking at volume 6... Maybe some chapters from the back half of volumes 4/5?
-
@killerrin the anime gutted most of the story. I'd say vol1 is the best place to start. Also the manga is pretty good.
-
@killerrin If you are that against reading stuff already covered, then you'd want to read volume 4, then skip to 6. The anime covered 1-3 straight, then skipped 4 to go to volume 5.
