What's The Two Light Novel Series You'd Like to See Licensed in 2021?
-
If you could pick one light novel series to be licensed in 2021, which one would it be. I though of limiting it to one, but I figured that might be a bit hard so I decided to open it up to two titles. Here are the 2 titles I'd live to see get licensed in 2021.
- Isekai de Tochi wo Katte Noujou wo Tsukurou "Let's Buy the Land And Cultivate in Different World"
- Lv2 kara Cheat datta Moto Yuusha Kouho no Mattari Isekai Life "The Laid-back Life in Another World of the Ex-Hero Candidate Who Turned out to be a Cheat from Level 2"
I've been following the stories on both of these for some time via the manga and have thoroughly enjoyed them. They are both slice of life isekai stories that I just happened to stumble across, but enjoy all the same.

Just two? I have a problem cutting my wants down to 24...
I guess Hige wo Soru would be the first in the queue. but filling โ2 spot would be too hard...(yeah, the list is few months old so there's 2 already licensed titles)

As everyone says, there are too many which would love to be read and translated. The two which I would love, of many, is one completed, though it now has a second series which acts as an alternative route and the other ongoing.
Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records - Akashic Records of a Bastard Instructor - the series is quirky, comedic and has a quite interesting plot, the anime series which came out did a decent enough job, though missed out elements.
Madan no ou to Vanadis - Lord Marksman with the Blackbow and the Vanadis. A completed harem series, which ends respectfully. 18 novel series and with 2 at the moment on the side story/spin off/alternative.
Anime was decent for an anime. Never got the second season. -
@Wellwisher
I have the same problem, I tried to keep it to two because I don't think that anyone would be able to name just one. That, and the fact that my reading schedule is so overbooked right now any more than that would put a serious hurt on me. LOL!๐ -
@custodes
I like both of those choices. I enjoyed the anime on both of those, especially "Lord Marksman". I'm actually really surprised that particular story hasn't been licensed yet to be honest. The "Akashic Records" manga is licensed if I'm not mistaken so at least there is one avenue to get that story in a way at least. -

The Vanadis manga adaptation was licensed and released in English by Seven Seas.

Oh, Cool! I must have missed that one. So many are getting licensed or have been licensed that it is hard to keep track of them all anymore.๐ -
Gosick and it's sequel are what i'd most like to see get picked up. One of a bunch that were lost with Tokyopop.
-
As others said, there are really a ton of LN that I wish to see licensed. In order to narrow the list, this time I'll go for two titles that I really enjoy reading but no longer have an active fan translation, Boku no kanojo sense and Maou desu. Onna Yuusha no Hahaoya to Saikonshita no de, Onna Yuusha ga Giri no Musume ni narimashita.
-
@kurosov
Those would definitely be a good choice. I quite enjoyed the anime. -
@Lex
I could see either one of those titles getting licensed. I'm actually kinda surprised they haven't been licensed already. -
Realistically:
Remake Our Life! Let's Time-travel to 10 Years Ago And Reenjoy Creative and Sweet Youthful Days.
https://forums.j-novel.club/post/29138- time travel romance that takes place in college with creatives (it's an art school the main character ignored the first go through by choosing his safety school, and the main characters all end up in industries of entertainment in the future; main character was a game studio worker, I think there's a voice actress and an artist). Anime coming, so I think there's a good chance we get this.
Unrealistically:
Zoa Hunter
https://forums.j-novel.club/post/20261- Too old. But I'm really interested in where that one goes. It's SciFi with a lot of action taking place in our not too distant future on Earth (gene splicing stuff involving animals to try and see if humanity can create DNA that would allow humans to live in extreme climates solving population density crises; of course, this does not go swimmingly as the infected animals mutate into monsters and our hero has to hunt them down one by one before they harm humans / knowledge gets out about them). It gets very interesting in the way SciFi can with questioning what it means to be human.
(I'll add another realistic / unrealistic one later; probably gotta add Musume Janakute Mama Ga Sukinano to the realistics since it'd be the one I'd want an official TL the most of recent stuff and it's now up to 4 volumes and a Manga adaptation).

@Terrence
I like the idea of the first one. That would definitely make for an interesting read. As for the second, if "Slayers" can get revivied then o wouldn't say there is no hope for the second. As they say, "Stranger things have happened". -
Too many to list, but if I just randomly pick two I've wished at some point, then these two;
Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta?/And You Thought There Is Never a Girl Online?
and
Seikoku no Dragonar/Dragonar Academy
...uuuh, why only two, there's so, so many, Shana, Campione, Jinsei, Ninomiya-kun, Inou-Battle...
-
Personally, I'm quite happy with what we've got, so I don't have many licenses I really wish to see get licenses anymore, in fact in think I would have struggled to fill a top10. Well, as long as Type-Moon licenses are out of reach, if they become available I want the whole stock.
-
The girl who ate a death god and if possible the other series from that universe so The girl who bore the flame ring, since wars stories with ruthless protagonist are always cool, but these ones especially so.
Also, I've re-read them recently, now that I've read The Saga of Tanya the Evil, and I've realized how similar the 2 are; if you like Tanya, Death God is a must-read. -
Sevens it's a bit generic at times but the gimmick of having his ancestors follow and comment on his actions is really well used, with a pretty good story and interesting characters.
Now that Otome Mob was licensed, I'm pretty hopeful for this one, I just hope JNC get it rather than SevensSeas.
Also, it's not a series I wish to see licensed, quite the opposite in fact, But I really hope Sol Press doesn't
burylicense any more series, or really get their shit together next year. -
-
Well, at this point most of the titles that I know and like are from Alphapolis, so not a lot of hope seeing them licensed.
But I will agree with your number 1 pick. Manga is pretty funny, but I have a suspicion that it's different from LN, being played in more comedic key. -
@lighthawk96 Boku no kanojo sensei has some elements that might be seen as controversial by some people...maybe this played a role.
@Terrence I think Musume might have good chances if Slightly older girlfriend proves to be successful.
@Korppi I definitely agree with Netoge no yome . -
I would love it if many of the suggested titles above got picked up.
I'll throw out these 2 also. I really loved the anime and think they would be a fun read.
- Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu
The main character, Yuuto Ayase is your average boy without any special traits. He attends a private high school where he is one of the many and doesn't stand out, until, one day, he happens to discover the secret of the school princess Haruka Nogizaka, and his life changes drastically from there on.
Haruka, the school's most unattainable girl, is so idolized in the school for both, her looks and intelligence, that her classmates nickname her Nuit รtoile (The Silver Star of the Night) and Lumiรจre du Clavier (The Shining Princess on the Piano). However, nobody knows that it is only a fake role she assumes to hide her true nature. In reality she is a die-hard fan of anime, manga, and otaku culture.

- Nogizaka Asuka no Himitsu
The series centers on Haruka's daughter, who aims to be an expert in Akihabara culture. The story follows her relationship with a male "casual."

@Korppi
The first one you mentioned I think might have a chance. The anime was really funny and I would hope that came from the light novel.Dragons, kinda, to me, falls into the HS DxD category. That one would be a wildcard, but of DxD can get licensed then there is definitely a chance.
-
@Raitoiro
These are actually two I knew nothing about. Just goes to show you how big the world of light novels is. We seem to be getting, as you said, similar titles licensed so it seems like there may be s good chance.
