General Anime Discussion (what are you watching now?)
-
There's gotten to be a bit of an active memberbase here now, so I was just wondering if enough people actually watch anime on an active enough basis to warrant such a topic? Of course there is. I hope. From my experience this is generally how anime stays afloat on some forums that don't have to do explicitly with anime, more often then not, and even on some anime focused ones, so I figured, what's the harm in trying?
I watch these anime weekly with my brother, but generally can't give as detailed thoughts on all of them, since I watch them 3 at a time:
Granblue Fantasy
Magical☆Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
Seiyu's Life!
Clockwork Planet
Love Tyrant
Eromanga SenseiYeah, I know 2 of them aren't airing, but there was kinda slimer picking than I usually find there to be. This is in order of watching, not preference. I'd say Abenobashi would come last if it was, as we started just watching something pretty old for the lols, and though I had a good eye I would enjoy it, there were others that interested me more (but were longer so he didn't want to go with them). I don't know how much of a point there would be by the end of it, but it's an all over the place isekai series that basically switches genre every ep, which is why I enjoy it, kinda why I don't. It's just not consistent that way. xD
Then well, I watched the first Pokemon XY Mega Evolution special, and it's pretty on point, but some of the dub lines are so much more atrocious than usual I find. I mean, XY has actually been good through its entirety, and I hear XY & Z is even better. But due to the dumb kinda ruining Korrina's voice, I am adamant about watching SM subbed so as to preserve them waifus.

Hmmm... I can post what I'm watching at least. In contrast to the op, this season has been one of the best for me with quite a few highly anticipated sequels.
In approximate order of how much I look forward to them each week:
There's a couple behind Amazon's paywall that'd I'd probably be watching too; I'll likely end up marathoning those with a free trial. -
I watch a lot, however their are only a few shows I watch as soon as they premiere:
Everything else I watch a few days after it airs.
-
I've seen 500-800 anime for the past ten years. So it's hard for me find a old anime, so I only watch what is airing. Which is about 3-4 atm. I tend to drop a lot of them.
-
I'm watching the following:
What I'm watching this season is about average for me. I tend to pick up quite a lot, drop a few, and then settle in for the ride.
-
Why are we spoiler tagging the lists of what we're watching? I'm worried about actual spoilers popping up in tags. T.T
I'm not really watching anything, though I do occasionally look up scenes from Renai Boukun and that anime with Chtholly (I would wait for the light novel, but people have been real jerks about spoilers).
-
I know right? People have been huge jerks this season. I personally wasn't spoiled on that show, but I started the manga of Attack on Titan because I was getting spoiled like crazy.
I enjoyed the manga, but still, first time that I had to start a manga with a reason as stupid as this one. -
Are you sure you want to know? Are you sure!!?? You asked for it
- Boku No Hero Academia(Second Season)
- Boruto
- Busou shoujo Machiavellianism
- Clock Work Planet
- Code Geass (Second Season)
- Hinako Note
- Magi: The labyrinth of Magic (first season)
- Re: Creators
- Renai Boukun
- Rokudenashi(insert long name)
- Sakura Quest
- Sakurada Reset
- Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul
- Attack on Fucking Titan (second season)
- Working!! (First season)
- Shuumatsu Nani shitemasu ka? (Haven't started it directly, but today)
- Tuski ga Kirei
- Zero kara hajimeru(insert another long name)
- Sin: Nanatsu no taizai(also starting it today)
Whipes forehead. So this is it, though most of them, I'm not up to date. I've like watched 1-4 episodes of each, but now that I have time to waste I'll catch up to all of them before the summer season arrives. You may have noticed that not all of them arries this current season. I want to put them in spoiler tag like evryone else has done, but I don't how to do it :/
The ones in bold are my favorite (duh) -

And I forget this lesson every now and again still).
I think I know every major "identity" plot point, and I haven't seen anything passed the first volume covered post season 1.
-
@Terrence I feel you, although I haven't been spoiled anything. I've read the manga up till where the season will end, but beyond that, I honestly do not have a single clue. I'm such a cautious person when it comes to this show. Don't watch any videos related to it, don't read any articles about it and do not and I repeat do not read any comments. That's how I survived, and I will continue to survive. Eren may fight against the titans, but we're fighting the spoilers.

Haha idk, I'm just worried a bunch of posts in this thread will end up looking longer than usual. I suppose we can stop that now, it's not really that big a deal if all is spoilered is lists. Right right, save it for actual spoilers. I'll even edit mine.
@ImIlyaz Oh, it's the eye button in between "Zen Mode" (fullscreen editing) and polls in the comment box... I guess that's about as well as I can describe it.
-
I'm watching too many:
Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor (surprisingly good)
Alice & Zoroku
Armed Girl's Machiavellism
Dragon Ball Super (currently at Future Trunks Saga)
Eromanga Sensei (The LN side of the show can be pretty fun)
Granblue Fantasy (probably the best looking and animated show of the season)
Grimoire of Zero
KADO: The Right Answer (I'm behind, but this is my sleeper hit of the season)
Kenka Bancho Otome: Girl Beats Boy
The Laughing Salesman (has my favorite OP of the season)
Love Tyrant
My Hero Academia S2
Re:CREATORS
The Royal Tutor
Sakura Quest
Silver Guardian
WorldEnd/SukaSuka
The World of YAMIZUKAN (so bad that I find it entertaining, helps that it's a short)Bolded my favorite shows of the season. Tsuki ga Kirei, Anonymous Noise and Sagrada Reset are in my backlog, will try them out eventually. Pretty good season for me.

@Terrence Don't watch any videos related to it, don't read any articles about it
I loved one article I saw on Google news feed titled like "Season 2 Rumor", but it was an anime based on a manga, so I assume the rumor was a spoiler. Thanks news site. xD
-
@lazyproblems surprised you didn't include Attack on Titan. Now I know not everyone likes it, but I always find it surprising... Also Dragon Ball, if you're on the Trunks arc, does that mean you're watching it in dub?
-
@ImIlyaz I got kinda impatient watching the anime and instead focused on the manga. I've read the manga through where this season should end, but I've just never followed through on the anime. I was planning on restarting it and binging the whole thing after this season ends.
As for DBS, I'm watching subs, but I came in late. The Tournament of Power is what pushed me to watch, which is what they probably hoped for. :P I think the dub is just starting Resurrection F saga?
I do watch some dubs though. I've opted to watch AliZou, Sakura Quest, Royal Tutor, Kenka Bancho and Love Tyrant dubbed.
-
@lazyproblems oh Sakura Quest? That's an interesting one, you're watching it in dub? The first episode gave me Shirobako vibes(which I LOVED), I decided one episode per week wasn't enough, so I put it on hold. I like good dub, so I'll definitely check its dub out. It's high time I catch up with it
As for AoT, I've also read the manga. -
Simulcasts:
- Attack on Titan 2
- Case Closed/Detective Conan
- Eromanga Sensei
- Danmachi: On the Side
- Kabukibu!
- One Piece
- Re:Creators
- Saekano ♭
- Yowamushi Pedal
SimulDubs:
- Encore of AOT
- Love Tyrant
- My Hero Academia 2
- Sakura Quest
- The Royal Tutor
Also re-watching Hunter x Hunter on Toonami
Catalog shows:
- One Piece (only about 150 episodes until I catchup to where I started the simulcast!)
- Claymore
More catalog, but probably will only watch 1 ep of one of these a week:
- Case Closed/Detective Conan (probably will never catch up, but I started the Simulcast when it came out on Crunchyroll, then started from the beginning on Funimation
- Gintama (I've seen the past 2 seasons, but have not completed the earlier ones)
- Nanbaka 2
My favorite time every week now is Saturday morning. Wake up with a SimulDub of My Hero Academia in my queue, now followed by Case Closed, then an hour or so break before Attack on Titan.
-
@erictbar that's a huge list. I personally prefer subs, and out of the simulcast list I'm only watching 4 from your list.
-
Wow, you guys watch a lot of series! I don't really watch anything new apart from the odd episode of Yokai Watch. I generally prefer old school anime and have been watching Legend of Galactic Heroes on and off (I don't want to overtake where I am in the novels), along with some nostalgia watches like Cyber City Oedo 808. That said, I'm waiting on Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind to be announced since I'm a longtime Jojo fan.
I prefer subs to dubs but I give the old Manga Entertainment dubs a pass because they're hilarious! :)
-
@ImIlyaz Yeah, I'm really liking Sakura Quest, and the dub voices are all great so far. I think it's a show that lends itself well to marathoning, so if you wait for some dubbed episodes to build up, that's probably pretty smart.
As for AOT, I figure a season 3 is all but guaranteed, but I guess you never know... I was going to use my anime marathon as a springboard to get back into the manga, so where it ends suits me pretty well.
