A girl Alicia lived as an orphan in a world of sword and magic Ciel. One day, she learned that she was an “otome game’s heroine”. Even her parents’ death was simply a part of the scenario. Alicia judged the heroine’s setting as 「nonsense」and discarded it decisively. She introduced herself as adventurer 『Aria』, gradually mastered multiple weapons and magic, and grew to become the 「Ash Crowned Princess of Slaughter」! But, by accepting a request to guard the “villainess”, before she realized it she got dragged into the stage where nobles quarreled against each other――?
「I am “I”. I’m not a game character!」
Create weapon! Train your body!
Survive the fighting against powerful enemies and smash apart the otome game!
A sublime and exhilarating other world battle fantasy with charming fighting heroine!
My Thoughts
This is a pretty unique take on the otome genre as the MC tries to escape the world's game scenario unafraid to fight or kill to survive. There also seems to be a recurring isekai'd character that wants to kill the heroine and become her. Would really like to see this licensed. -

This sounds really cool. So the MC is not isekai but discovers she lives in a game and decides to break free of the story? That really interesting
-
Sounds like another decent riff version. Got my vote.
-
@facelessone That is a lot of knives strapped to her leg...
-
Giving this a bump since it sounds interesting.
-
Looks like volume 4 is set to come out this month in Japan.
-
I'd buy this the moment it got licensed. Absolutely love this series and the authors other works as well.
-
The art on the covers is just incredible
-
I hadn’t upboated this originally so either I missed the topic or wasn’t interested in it at the time, but heck yes.
I have the first three volumes of the LN, the one manga volume that’s out and have been following it on Corona Ex and it is very good as far as I’ve read.

Volume 5 is currently scheduled for a December release.

Yeah, this is correct. Going from memory here, been a long time since I read the manga, so some details may be remembered wrong...
MC has an encounter with someone who was isekaied as an uninvolved side character and wants to take her place in the story as the game's protagonist so they can actually be involved at the beginning. The takeover fails, but not before she learns all about the game and her supposed place in it. She was an orphan (of royal descent who the royals thought was dead from the attack on her parents, but who actually survived as an infant and was sent to a commoner orphanage) who in the story was supposed to get adopted by a low-ranking noble and then sent to the school where the game's story happens. She turns out to have a distinctive hair color that identifies her as royal family (which she learned from the attacker). She colors her hair gray with fireplace ashes because that's all she had on hand that could cover it (thus the "Ashen Maiden" moniker), escapes from the orphanage before she can be adopted, throws away her (already fake but matching the game) identity and goes off to make her own life in the world instead, and the story really begins there.

@pcj I love your synopsis and want to read this series even more now!

It's a great story.
The Otome game heroine was supposed to be the always smiling forgiving type with a sunny personality. The story starts with her having run away from the Orphanage because the woman who runs the place was going to sell her to some pervert. The Isakai'd woman targeted her right at this moment hoping to copy her own consciousness to become the heroine. MC struggles and strongly resists the the personality of the woman which in turn shatters her own personality. She's left with a vague awareness of the Otome game plot and scattered bits of knowledge from the isakai'd womans world.
With her own personality shattered gone is the happy sunny girl leaving only a pragmatic survivalist with knowlede of how weak she is and what she needs to do to become strong. She has no qualms about killing for survival.
The story starts on her journey to gain strength, live independently and free away from noble society and the game characters while the game story proceeds on.
It's a bloody journey for her, She's ruthless.

I'm voting for this one to be licensed next too. Also published by TO Books which is same as Ascendance of Bookworm. I think its perfect fit for JNC

I'd love to see this series picked up.

Cover of volume 6 has been revealed.

I add in my vote. I'm pretty excited. From what it sounds like, I really feel I could relate to the main character (as odd as that may sound). I would buy these light novels in a heartbeat.
-
Having now read some of the manga for this, I'd be very interested in the LN. Very interesting setup for a story, I'd hope the prose matches it.

I just read the manga for this and now I'm really interested in the Light Novel. Hope it gets licensed.
