Black Summoner Anime Discussion

@mortcs Ikr. This is not a g rated title.

Wow the fight scene with Gerard was one of the worst I've seen in anime. For me the fights are what make Black Summoner and honestly after seeing that I just want to cry. Seriously though that fight scene animation was just awful. Yup I'm definitely going to go cry now.

I thought it looked like they were building a phone based fighting game and this was the advertisement for it.
-
@grobinson2k1 I don't know if I'd go that far, it definitely looks like it could hack it on PS4. And you'd really want to use a controller given the number of options you'd likely have.
-
@Alex232 Oh yeah I got you. And not only this. Why did they use washed out CGi for this? This way it was even worse.
But on another note. I really like the design of Gerald in the Anime. Looks way better as in the Manga.
-
I wouldn't say the fight animation was terrible, just that it was CG instead of normal animation. A lot of anime has been going in this direction because the CG is cheaper, and you have to work within your budget.
-
@Nutaris Wasn't is the producers of the new CG trigun that just said like "A common misconception is that CG is cheaper than traditional animation"?
I think frankly whoever said that needed to add a "decent looking" before the "CG" for it to be true.
-
@admin I can believe the original statement without "decent looking" is correct. Animating is probably the most expensive part of CG, and animation has almost nothing to do with the rendered look (that's materials, modeling, and lighting). I can't speak for the division of labor when it comes to animated shows/films, but in the video game industry, those are very different art disciplines even if they do collaborate.
As to why CG is getting popular? My theory is that there simply aren't enough traditional animators in the industry. And if Shirobako is at all representative of the actual anime industry, then it kind of makes sense. When it comes to 3D animation, there's at least one entire other industry they can pull talent from: video games.
I was going to make a comment about Evangelion, but I think that'll hit way too close to reality...

Eek, Guildmaster Leo… I see how they got there, but really!?
-
@grobinson2k1 Lmao, I was complaining to my friend about his name. It's one of my biggest pet peeves when they have a legal, properly translated source material and yet still get named wrong.
-
In the Italian subs he was Rio. I guess this time I got lucky.

And when we get to Rion it just feels wrong with Leon...
-
@Whacka It'll be interesting to see the subtitle team handle that.
-
Man, that scene where Efil held Claire's hand, though... girl was so scared, and then when she began crying happy tears at not burning anyone who's nice to her... I tell ya, I was smiling at that one.
-
This anime makes me think waaay too much about Kelvin's weird ear piece thingy.

I'm with you on that one... like is it a backup knife that he headbutt monsters with? Is it for cutting spider webs? And how does it stay on? Did he glue it on?
-
The part where Efil is jumping up and down and smiling from having finally been touch someone without them bursting into flames was beyond precious. I'm surprised Kelvin didn't end up passing out at the sight of it. And yes I can say that because the anime always has it's different takes from the light novel to the manga. Either way, if he had it would have been appropriate at that point.

Watching this weeks episode, makes me wonder… did Rio know about which demon was in the dungeon and their purpose there?
-
Found it a bit funny that when Collette gets back up after receiving the oracle that she has no legs.
