One Year Survey and Catchup Time for Launch Titles!
-
For our 1 year anniversary month, we've got a survey for everyone to take that will really help us choose our direction for the next year and beyond!
Please go here to take the survey:You can win free one of 25 premium ebook credits if you put in your email!
Also, in honor of our roots, all of our launch titles are back with all volumes available to read for the entire month of October! So for all you new members, you can now read Grimgar, I Saved Too Many Girls and Caused the Apocalypse, My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World, Occultic;Nine, My Little Sister Can Read Kanji, and Mixed Bathing in Another Dimension from volume 1 and catch up to the translation!

Where would I fall under the "I am" section since I have this account, use credits regularly, but am not a paying subscriber?
-
@sam-pinansky Very thorough survey, you guys really seem to care what we think - thank you!
-
Wish I could specify between volumes and series in the fan translation question. Only read a volume out of most of what I've read, like 8, 9 volumes at most in total. I'm not sure how I should be answering that right now... if by series then really only 4. Or 6 if I count the 2 I read 1 or less chapters of. But wow 1 year? Where does the time go...
EDIT: Decided to go with the middle ground of the complete in between, 6. Plus, it would technically be the most series. Also, $0 on anime... but that's because I paid for Amazon Prime for something else, and my brother pays for Crunchyroll and Netflix. Heh.

Those were some tough questions.
For the record, I want mecha and more mature series (more Bishoujo or adult leads, less Moe and Immouto; where is the love for the OL J-Novel Club?), but I just couldn't pick those over Horror, Comedy, Mystery, Romance, and Slice of Life. I dunno where real life drama + dramatic love triangles would fit.
I put a few novel novels in my light novel recs. Went with my standbys of olden days (Shiki, Subete Ga no F, Sakurako-san, DR Zero).
-
More mecha and sci-fi LNs would be great.
I can't really think of any that are being fan translated atm aside from Knight's & Magic.
-
Finally finished the survey. That was really well done and took me a while to get through. Any questions involving numbers involved me either counting through my MAL list, or doing averages including the importing costs of proxy-buying stuff like Arifureta from Japan.
-
Whew, that survey took some time. Also, getting the monthly spending numbers is quite hard when there are monthly, yearly and one time payments.
Also, I guess with Anti-Hero you meant the modern definition ( Paying to win protagonist) not a classical Anti-Hero like Haruhiro from Grimgar?
-
@jaquobus Yeah, the modern meaning.
The other one isn't really a genre of light novels. -
So when I go to the desktop website, the "launch titles" are available to read from volume 1, but for some reason the app (iOS in my case) only shows the first part previews, even after reloading several times and making sure I'm logged in. Just an fyi, since I would like to read Grimgar and Little Apocalypse, seeing as I've only been a member for 2 months haha.

Same for me in Android app - signed up specifically to catch up on Grimgar after doing the survey & seeing the catch up month mentioned, but reading on PC is painful I wanna use my phone. Suppose I'll read Outbreak Company & maybe the latest Smartphone in the mean time (have both on pre-order through Amazon)
-
@smashman42 Until @Sam-Pinansky fixes it in the app, you can also try the web-reader on your phone. The single page mode should work fine in any modern browser.
-
@legitpancake Seems like server-side filter (which isn't used on web reader) works with outdated data about expiration status or something, meaning app would get a list of available parts as if availability extension never happened.

I figured he meant like Maou the Demon King, yeah. Wanted to vote for that too, but alas, not enough choices.
-
I hate free text boxes. I've now thought of something I could have put in it. Would be nice to be able to see progress through prepub parts even after they have been removed.

I was glad there was a question about the prepubs.
I'd like as a premium member to have access to the prepubs as long as I'm signed up. We're still buying volumes with the premium creds for the bonuses, so it's not like them disappearing is the only reason to spend extra money / credit.
-
I think permanent access to prepubs is a bit much, myself.
Now, what would be good would be periodic weekends where you get access to the prepubs of select series on a rotating basis.
-
@jaquobus Hmm, the expired override should work server side... I will investigate. We can always manually fix.

I think that's how it should work for regular members. Wonder if that'd be easy to implement (I mean, we already have restrictions for free vs paid; premium get full access, regular get new prepubs and occasional free weekends / months)?
Again, the system isn't bad, I just think it would be another neat benefit for premium members. Extra forum access, creds; permanent Epubs would be another nice bullet point.

@sam-pinansky they have expired:false in the full listing, but parts/?filter={"where":{"expired":"false"}} won't list them (or parts/?filter={"where":{"expired":"false", "volumeId":"58133d10ae5227f143960d37"}} for a shorter version)
