@_08 Hmm, I see. I implemented a series-level expiration override, but it doesn't actually modify the database for each individual part. I'll have to inspect how the app calls the back-end then, might need to change how the hook operates (or just manually flip the ~60-70 parts myself.)

@terrence Yeah, can see that. I just am cautious. It's a big balancing act between selling the books and having the prepubs be free to subscribers. The current system seems to be working (hopefully) for Sam. Go too far the other way, and they might lose revenue and that'd be bad for the company, I want them to last and succeed, so taking the cautious route is a good idea.

@_08 You were correct, that was the issue.
I have implemented a hook on the server side that modifies the query before it asks the database in addition to modifying the results.

          Should be working now.

I Just remembered something after I took the survey. I spend money on anime via Crunchyroll but I put in 0. and maybe for reading the pre-pubs it could be for premium members, they pay extra for the monthly credit so they can use that credit to but a book they want to keep. this way people are happy they can read them but they still can get the e-books and you guys do still get money.

I think keeping the first volume of all ongoing series free for premium members would be a good compromise. It lets you try out a series but if you like it and want the other volumes you'd have to buy them. I think this wouldn't much affect the bottom line as if any self respecting otaku who buys volumes 2-up will also need volume 1 for a complete set, the only money that is lost is on series you don't actually like and the money made from volume 1 of unliked series actually has the negative impact of making buyers view JNovel in a less positive light for the experience and potentially more cautious for future purchases.

Pretty good survey, I have to say. I obviously requested Kino no Tabi + Slayers, Full Metal Panic!, Gosick, Twelve Kingdoms

Very well done team, great questions! I requested Kino no Tabi, Gosick and No Game no Life (not sure if these 3 are already licensed)

By the way, the announcement omits that Brave Chronicle is also available again. I assume that's a clever ploy of @Sam-Pinansky to guide all those imouto lovers to Siskan.

No Game No Life is already licensed and has the first six books already out. Covers all the anime, the upcoming movie, and a good bit of content that hasn't been touched upon yet.

@jaquobus Brave Chronicles felt like a hazing JNovel put its early adopters through.

I like the idea of a Netflix for light novels. However, I don't think the Japanese publishers would appreciate that model as much.

Will the results from the survey be released at some point. Some of the responses could be interesting like most requested licenses and publishers.

I had no clue about publishers, so I just put Overlap (are they the Death Need Round publisher?). Gotta do some research.

Yea, that's Overlap. I went with 5 publishers that publish the most of the series I want licensed.

@hamazura_shiage Yea if you go to any Books-A-Million or Barnes & Noble, the first 6 LN books of NGNL should be there. And the manga too.
