They announced the finalists. 13 this year.

Sorry to hear that, just know that it doesn't mean that your work is bad or anything.
By the way, was it only announced on discord/email? Well, I guess the passing works will be made public soon anyway.

I got my flush letter by email—outside of that, all JNC communication since the end of round 1 has been on Discord, as far as I can tell, and has been much briefer than last year. There is currently no master list on Discord, I am guessing that all round 2 folks have been notified by email—one way or another. I would hope that they will get everything quickly sorted for the story samples, since they already lost a week due to a delay.

(I like my story, and love my characters—so I plan on giving it (at least) one more go with JNC (assuming they have a contest). Not moving on is disappointing, but this year’s work is much better than last year’s. The extra time will help me refine the volumes and ensure a more cohesive continuity. I will be closing out my main villain arc at a total of 3 to 5 volumes—almost done with volume 2. I look forward to getting feedback from the judges!)

Usually, I would advice against it. Maybe there is nothing to refine. But you passed to the second round and if you think you can enhance the story, then maybe it is not such a bad idea. But I think it would be best to continue your work and make it a priority to finish your novel first.
