I also jumped in Smartphone in the middle, and despite having watched the anime, I don't regret reading it again from the first volume. Most of what makes the series work is Touya's snarky sense of humor. Since it was pretty much absent in the anime, experiencing the story again with it changed a lot of things.

Does that 'new transfer' (at least Im calling him that) from the last anime episode become a regular or does he even appear in the LN?

I think I know who you're talking about.
He's the type that kinda makes guest appearances now and then, so not exactly a regular.

Yeah, he's in the very last scene and Touya pays for something for him and there's an exchange over the guy's interesting coin vs the smartphone.

@terrence There is a side story in Vol 23 that has the Invaders out on the school trip and Elle invites herself along. Harumi watching their interactions realizes that Elle can have a relationship with Koutarou that is completely different from the rest, Mother.

@shrike_al Realist is very good. Rokujouma is currently my second all time favorite (Tenchi Muyo fan from way back). Both of them spend a lot of time on the internal dynamics of the harem.
Less happy with Smartphone for that same reason. It's nice the girls have relationships with each other out side of Touya but he seams to spend alot of time avoiding them.

Oh the Picking has already happened . Having all participated in the reforging of Signaltin the are now bound to it and will be reincarnated as long as it exists. They made sure to ask if he loved all of them "as women" first (vol 26 sec 8 30% in). I think as far as the girls are concerned they've had the wedding, the just have to get Koutarou ready for the consummation.

Are there any ships you guys are rooting for in Harems that are up in the air?

Actually, to that point, are there any harem that are truly up in the air (no forced Canon lead early), that will end with one winner, being published in English?

@steelblaidd Elle knew 20 years ago that she couldn't have Koutarou. She's had a long time to formulate how to make herself part of his life. I'm confident that during her stay on Earth she learned all about his past. She does love him, but knows that he'll never be her lover. She won't settle for being cut out of his life though, not that I think Koutarou would do that.

Yeah, Koutarou is done for. He just doesn't know it yet.

@terrence Up in the air? Maybe Mixed Bathing. Maybe. Outbreak Company, but that doesn't quite meet the definition of a harem.

Rest of the harems are pretty well established and stable, although Arifureta could expand a bit, not that anyone is taking Yue's place. Realist Kingdom could bear watching after Naden joins. Lucia did tell Souma that he could have 8 wives, after all.

Dendrogram. A mixed RL/VR harem in the making?

That is if I make it that far, I was looking at the cover of Volume 12 and personally speaking I ~~hate~~ immensely dislike every single aspect of it. It shows a story I don’t want to read, and that’s coming from someone who has been asking for a food related light novel almost since this sites inception.
