I was wondering when the announcements would happen.
But I'm still somewhat sad that there aren't any hints. Those hints are like a community event and it's fun to try and guess the title, especially if you get it right. -
@bartzbb yeah, the hints are my favorite part, even though I never get any of them right
-
How many new series are going to be announced? Last time it was basically just 1 new title so it was really disappointing.

You never know, they might drop something before the announcement, there's still 5 days.

We'll try to have something prepared in advance next time for everyone to learn about and discuss new announcements on the forums right after they happen! Gotta make sure it's done for next month...
I'm still holding out that something on my want list will come through. Or barring that if JNC has managed to get anything from alphapolis I'd be ecstatic. They have many series I'd be interested in, but no one's managed to negotiate any of their LN's for English release yet as far as I know. It's been a long time since we've heard anything good or bad about them in terms of even trying to get a foot in the door.
-
I‘m very happy with the titles we got at the last announcement, but it would be nice if they would announce a few more than just two at once.
-
@jpwong There are times, in fact, where fan translation is actually the morally superior choice.

A line from a man who has lost all hope. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Huh, didn't expect German pulp fiction to end up at J-Novel club. I'm curious how the reception will be.
-
So many new titles that I’m gonna have to check out! >.< I’m rather squicky when it comes to horror and spookies so some of the new imprint’s selections may not vibe with me, but at the very least I’m excited for Perry Rhodan.
-
I am very curious about the pulp fiction myself. I think I'll have to at least try them and see.
As for the other titles, Villainess is going to be a hard pass I think. I made it though 1 volume of Her Majesty's Swarm and decided at that point I wanted nothing more to do with it, so it's hard to justify trying another series by the same author. The rest... dunno, we'll see.
-
So many new series! And I’m really surprised about the German novels. I’m willing to give them a try just to expand my horizons.
-
Wait, Perry Rhodan?! Wow, that's in the same epic size like Guin Saga.
-
@alocervancouver While that applies to the main Perry Rhodan series, Perry Rhodan Neo is reboot of sorts, and significantly short so far (~200 booklets vs >3200 booklets for the main series).
-
I'm kinda shocked. I always thought the John Sinclair novels were originally from Great Britain and got translated into German.
-
I'm somewhat confused to the structure of the new series for J-Novel Pulp.
From what was said on stream these series are long running series from Germany with over 50 volumes. It was also said that each volume will contain more than 1 story. What does this mean? Will there be like over 50 e-Books for each series or is it something like an Omnibus where multiple volumes will be released as 1 volume?
-
@bartzbb Those were originally published in magazines and had between 60-80 pages afair. So I guess they'll collect multiple stories into one omnibus.

I've been reading the WN fantranslation of this and it's been entertaining so far.
Just a shame nothing on my list of dropped fantranslations or those with horrendous translations were picked up.

@bartzbb According to @exedore on Discord, Sinclair and Bannister will be 4 issues each JNC volume (an issue is about 64 pages originally weekly in Germany, so roughly 250-260 pages each volume).
Perry Rhodan will be 2 issues each JNC volume (an issue is about 160 pages originally biweekly in Germany, so roughly 320 pages each volume). Perry will also be split into 12 prepub parts per volume but released two per week. -
@bartzbb Like waiting for a licensed translation of Eromanga Sensei.
