@doceirias English actually has a lot of words for 'ghost' too. Like specter, phantom, spirit, apparition. I'm actually a bit of a folklore nut myself, so there are a lot of 'ghosts' that are of a specific type. Most people know poltergeists, but there's also fetches, which is basically yourself. If you see yourself, you die. Wraith comes from the old Norse word Vordr, which means 'ward' or 'warden'. It's a bit like a guardian spirit, until you die, then it becomes undead and haunts a person or place. There's the ubiquitous 'Lady in White', the generic parts being she is a scorned woman who murdered her children and then killed herself. So there is a wealth of words to use in an English translation that could properly approximate their Japanese counterparts. Although I do understand that the last thing a translator would want to do is extensive research the paranormal on top of their normal work. I still want a translation of this so damn bad. I needed to reiterate. I've been waiting for ten years.

Is there no bonus content in Grimgar Vol 16? IRC there was something like 3 short stories in Japan.

@Khaos said in How to get the EPUB "own"/ download?: @Chaos-master Ah I see. Unfortunately there is no Premium option for manga. I think, iirc, the issue is Premium's are DRM free and the Japanese manga publishers didn't agree to allow that. I'm not sure if this is being worked on for the future or if it's just how it is. I don't follow manga so it's all I know, someone else may be able to expand. Yup, the Japanese Publishers aren't currently (as far as has been revealed to the forum, at any rate) willing to allow DRM-free manga, so there aren't going to be Premium Editions for manga unless that happens.

@db0ssman Elf Bride is tricky. Like you pointed out, while it takes forever for them to make progress on their relationship, at the end of vol 1 they are in it and at no point is there ever any real threat to the relationship from that point on. So the success of an anime would have to hinge on adapting the relationship between the Archdemons, the Church, and the Demon Lord sealed away... while also giving us lots of Love Power! moments between the various couples that form. I'd like to see an anime of it - if this were a top 10 list it would have made it - but that's a careful balance of what are really two different types of story to have to tell, which makes me worried about it being successful.

Maybe I'll give Least Interesting Master Swordsman another try. It lived up to its title a bit too much for me, but perhaps it gets wildly exciting later on?

@Terabyte said in Sol Press Discussion Thread: The Game Master has Logged In to Another World I read volume 1 yesterday and enjoyed it. It's a typical overpowered-protagonist isekai but is a little bit like JNC's Instant Death Cheat in that many other people have been summoned to the same world, and they're from different MMOs not the same one as the main character. Protagonist vs. protagonists, Gun Gale Online vs. Sword Art. A solid B+ novel.

As @jpwong has said it is no longer part of the catch up meaning if you want to continue to read it you will need to buy it or wait to who knows when it becomes available on another catch up month.

I don't mind stories that go on and on, even with extended waits between release of volumes. There are few series "I drop" if ever. Put it on long pause maybe...

@Village-Idiot said in Light novels and their manga adaptions: The manga is usually just to promote the LN and very rarely actually finishes completely adapting the LN. The usual rate is around two manga volumes per LN. That's what happened recently with Ester de Valonia/エステルドバロニア (currently 2 light novel volumes, 4 webnovel volumes) It had a 10-chapter manga adaptation, and despite the author's wishes it was cut short thereafter. (Turned out pretty popular with the English readers, turning into some drama when they saw a note on the last page of chapter 10 which said volume 2 comes out on January 27th and were sure it meant it was going to continue, all the while others tried in vain to explain it only meant the last 5 chapters were being compiled into a volume...) Light novel and manga adaptations don't always coincide, one recent strange example was Territory Management For The First Time, By The Adventurers Of Level 99/レベル99冒険者によるはじめての領地経営 The webnovel started in 2014 and is still ongoing, according to amazon it had a light novel version in 2014-2017 with 6 volumes total, however it only got a manga adaptation a few months back, with, I think, only two chapters out yet as of this date.
