I have been so confused and frustrated. And of course it's something simple but not where I thought to check.

@christantoan Thanks for reporting this. We've released an update for the servers that will fix browser and mobile clients to list ebook releases for volumes of series you are following when there are no parts released in the calendar for the same series.
