Actually, any novel with no anime or isekai or fantasy didn't get much attention lolLike Isekai + Romcom is more popular than ol' plain Romcom lol

Well I can think of a few LNs that would be published as light bungei if they were published today. Such labels only became popular in the last few years.
First title comes to mind would be "Hakomari", I guess

Yeah well Isekai is quite popular today. Isekai/magic school, harem and romcom make up the vast majority of light novels. Genres like mystery, sci-fi (especially hard sci-fi) and horror have never been light novel genres. That is why it is so hard to find light novels of those genres ^^
I bet it is because they just don't lend themselves that well to "fun stories" which is what light novels are usually supposed to be. Of course there are exceptions. Like everything Eiji Mikage writes. Perhaps that is why they never sell.
On that note, his latest book - the one published in Taiga is actually selling well.

I think Oregairu, Kimi to Boku no Uta World's End (is this one even a LN?) and Gekkou are first LNsActually, I was just trying to trace these novels history in mind
and I tried to imagine the guy in Kodansha Novels who decided to give Anime-type illustration to a Mephisto winner (Zareogoto 1)It's, definitely, Katsushi Ota who started this (unawares lol) by making Faust and Kodansha Box.

Perhaps. I wouldn't even call everything Kodansha Box publishes belongs to this category. Monogatari for example definitively targets the same audience as light novels. Also the list on light bungei's wiki page doesn't list Kodansha Box as a light bungei label : https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/ライト文芸
I would say it was Biblia that made the term popular at least.

Well, Box doesn't only publish novels anyways but manga and criticismsFunny thing that I always thought that Biblia is a Dengeki title, only recently that I noticed it belongs to MediaWorks

Actually, Bakemonogatari started at Mephisto before being serialized in Pandora.
So, it still stands in this iffy place, where you can't categorize it easily.
Also, I heard it's originally meant as general literature written in his free time.

Monogatari series became more light novel like and less general literature like at one point imo ^^ But yeah most of Nisio Isin's books are hard to categorize.

Actually, I think that 1st season books aside from Bake were more like LNs but 2nd and Final season are closer to general literature than LNs <More like the novels after Nise have a lot of character study elements that we don't see much in LNs> -

For some reason, when I woke up, I found a porn magazine beside my bed this morning, and I’m cuddling a Dutch wife. And then, I found lots of sticky fluid between my legs. Thanks to that, mom showed concern to me, saying, “Th-the weather’s fine today! Time to wash the bedsheets! We have to wash it once in a while!” And of all days, Yukiko just had to enter my room today.
“Brother, I came to wake you up because of what you told me yesterday. Hurry up and wake—WAAH!? B-b-brother!?”
My sister’s words gave way to a shriek midway through. And during breakfast, she’s giggling away, muttering to herself, “Yukiko saw it❤, it’s all sticky sticky❤”
